Hey Jackie, Thanks for the news. Maybe the word is getting out to people.

This is

what it will take for Dr. to realize that this is something real. Now more

people see that their CU is not something to be afraid to talk about. I feel

maybe a cure is ahead.

Thank you for everything you do for us. Love Carolyn

Hi Jackie

Thanks for the information, although it's not really a cause for

celebration. I was wondering if membership has increased dramatically over

the last year, and also wondering why this would be...........I hope we

aren't going to have an explosion of itchy people all around the world, for

reasons unknown. Someone raised this before, but do we know how long

chronic urticaria has been around? When was it first documented in medical

books? Maybe this sort of information might give us some clues. Best

wishes, Carol

I agree, this many sufferers is not a reason to celebrate. BUT, I take this

as a sign that people that are in need of support are now FINDING us, and

that is indeed a good thing. Since we moved to yahoo groups, I've noticed

the membership has steadily climbed, and many of our newer members are

long-time sufferers.

Air hugs,

Jackie

I agree Jackie, thank goodness we have each other to fall back onto. If it

weren't for all the people here, I wouldn't have had some relief, everyone

here has helped me 100% more than the 5 doctors that I went to ! Thank all

of the moderators and co-moderators for all you do to make this possible !

What a nice big family we have!!!! Hopefully amoung as are some doctors

that need a bit more knowledge to help sufferers find relief and a cure. It

is a blessing that now 500 people know they are not alone :o) To those of

you that started this group, I am forever grateful. Love, ~Alena's

When I started getting hives I heard from all sorts of people who knew

someone who had hives that wouldn't respond to treatment. I asked my

allergist if he thought there was a recent upsurge in this syndrome, his

reponse was " It's like when you get a new car -- all of a sudden you see

that kind of car all over the place. "

Still, I'm not sure .....

That's amazing that you heard of people having this. When I mention it,

most people just think it will go away with no meds and then there are

other's who say it's (especially my mother in law !) probably bad nerves!

That just makes me so upset ! If that's all it were, it would be so simple.

I have heard of people breaking out in hives, but then it going away, but

not like mine. In fact my doctors are using my case in a lecture they are

giving. I live in a fairly small area with small towns that are within

driving distance of each other. So maybe it's just because of my area. It

seems like it's a growing problem. Good luck ! Ann

I do live in a growing suburban area near a large metropolitan city, but it

seems that about 1 out of 10 people I talk to know someone in my situation.

Of course I've never actually met someone with non-ending hives (except on

this forum).
