Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I hope you can get effective treatment for it. I can only speak for myself and that is to say that I have arthritis, osteoporosis and scoliosis. I was on mega doses of pain killers and muscle relaxants. I have been hypo/Hashi's for 13 years and on thyroxine( but still with every single symptom) In desperation I switched to Armour and I am completely off the muscle relaxants and off one of the painkillers. I am still taking another slow release one, but hey if I have to keep taking that one, I don't mind...............before just on that one I would have been in agony. I was also told I had fibro. Good luck with your treatment, remember we are always here if you need us!.....................Meleese in Oz xxx ----- Original Message ----- From: chitchatt2006 Hi all, Well, I'm now confident my doctor was right last week about saying Ihave Fibromyalgia and not hypothyroidism. I've had a lot offrustration and anger with this diagnosis and I think it was becausethey hypothyroidism is easier to control than the Fibro would be. Idon't want Fibro. But I've got it. That's that. Now what swung my very opinionated mind? I just got off the phone witha very experienced and aged surgeon whose entire female half of hisfamily has had thyroid disease of various types. Many MANY women inhis family. He treats with Armour when nothing else works. In fact, his own daughter is on Armour because she ( a nurse) went throughThyroid storm, then chose of her own free will knowing theconsequences - chose to have RAI. He found her numbers afterwards wereall over the board. So, he said let's try Amour for you. She has beenwell regulated ever since. So he discussed my symptoms and my diagnosis. And the muslce pain, themuscle twitches and the joint soreness should not be part ofhypothyroidism. If you do experience these things, I suggest you toolook outside of hypothyroidism and see if there isn't something elsecausing these pains and twitches. For me, it is the Fibromyalgia. Yes,we are going to watch my other numbers - but it isn't the hypo that isgetting me right now - it is Fibromyalgia causing all my brain fog, mytiredness, my inability to exercise, etc etc. They do share manysymptoms. I thought I would share this because I don't want everyone to feelthat hypothyroidism is the only diagnosis that explains all thesymptoms we encounter. I think it is too easy to dump everything onhypothyroidism as a diagnosis. I did that- and I was mistaken. If this gets someone angry - so be it. If this makes you feel I'mwrong, that's okay. But I've got to get on with treating this Fibronow - so I guess I'll have to put my heart into that finally andforget about barking up the tree of hypothyroidism when that is notcurrently a problem of mine. Guest guest
Hi there, I suppose I should keep my mouth shut here - being a new girl on the site, and all that - but I just can't ! Fibro and CFS do not exist. They are ailments 'inveted' by endos to explain why synthetic hormones do not work for a lot of people, and they appeared around the time that synthetics and THS tests were first introduced. This isn't just my opinion, it is also the opinion of many eminent doctors, including Dr. C. Lowe (check him out on Shomon's site). I'm sorry, too, if this upsets anyone, but it really is my bĂȘte noir, because if one accepts the diagnosis of fibor or CFS, one is not going to get the thyroid treatment that is going to make one better. Guest guest
I don't even know what to say anymore. I am just plain sick of it all. Who really knows anything about anything anymore? None of the doctors can agree - none of the people with the illnesses can agree. So who knows? I give up. > > Hi all, > > > >Well, I'm now confident my doctor was right last week about saying I > >have Fibromyalgia and not hypothyroidism. Guest guest
I'm sorry to be so witchy - but I think I've hit the end of my limit on how much back and forth I can take on what exactly is or isn't wrong with me. One of the things my doctor chided me on in that appointment over a week ago was that it was foolish of me to try to self diagnose because I couldn't see the forest for the trees and got to fixed on one diagnosis. I felt about an inch tall. Now this guy today - who knows hypothyroidism tells me that the first guy was right - and this is an ELDERLY doctor who DOES prescribe armour. He said it's great stuff - but it won't help you, you have a different disease. So I don't know. Why try? I read the stuff that Dr. Lowe wrote about how 90% of Fibromyalgia patients respond to an overload dose of T3 - because many of them are thyroid hormone resistent meaning their thyroid tests show euthroid. But I can't prove that to my doctors - they won't listen to that. And how do I know what is right? Sorry - I'm just so confused and discouraged I could spit at someone. Meleese - you asked about my tests. I posted the whole lot right here: http://www.turnkeydesign.net/thyroid.html (Note that about 6 weeks earlier my TSH was 2.74 at a free clinic) My temperatures suck eggs - they're normally 97.8 to 98.0 all the time. I can get up to 98.4 but not often. I sometimes drop as low as 97.2 mostly before bed and upon waking up. Sorry but I'm in a bad mood. I " m sick of getting no where and sick of having no money to get anyone to do anything. Sorry Lynn > > > Hi all, > > > > > >Well, I'm now confident my doctor was right last week about saying I > > >have Fibromyalgia and not hypothyroidism. Guest guest
I know its hard to find a good Dr. I have had 28 years in the wilderness myself. But want to let you know that my new Dr treats all her patients with TSH >2 as HypoT , and prescribes T3, T4 combo or Armour ...... Don't give up. Fibro is 'not' nice. And you may be sitting very close to the cure ..... Guest guest
Thanks Jane, I am sorry (to everyone) that I'm just such a pain today. I'm just worn out I guess. Guest guest
LILI , You are right. It is an autoimmune thig and if you have hashi which is an autoimmune thing you are more than likely to get another like fibro or arthritis or diabetes. I have read that over and over again.
