Guest guest
Hi , First don't take magnesium during the day as they are know as the long muscle relaxer, so it would be best to take your doses at the evening. IMHO B's are best taken in the am as they do seem to rev up the system. Have you had your adrenals tested in any way? It sounds like they could be really stressed after what you have been through. Check out http://tuberose.com/Adrenal_Glands.html I use this a lot in fact the whole tuberose.com site is full of good info. But you do sound as though that could be a major factor in why you are not sleeping. Adrenal and thyroid problems have very similar symptoms that is why it can be confusing and we think that the thyroid is getting worse when in fact it is the adrenal that is the problem. Hope this helps a bit. Dawn in Canada > > Meds and supplements I take each day. Am I doing something wrong > that might be making me feel worse? Guest guest
Hi , Just a little note on your supplements: B12 is known to give energy and is best taken early in the day. sue Meds and supplements I take each day. Am I doing something wrong that might be making me feel worse? I have become even more fatigued the past few days, and have other new symptoms.. but that happens sometimes for no reason that I can find. My labs a month ago were TSH zero, Free T3 and FT4 were way at the top of normal range on the labs. My doc upped me from 175 synthroid to 200 synthroid at that time. (he wanted to add Cytomel, but I dont tolerate it. Migraines.) My list: AM: Synthroid, Ritalin, Lexapro Lunch time: Ritalin, magnessium, prevacid, CoQ10, evening primrose oil, flax oil, iron, C, Dinner: CoQ10, evening primrose oil Bed Time: Magnessium, multi vit, B complex, calcium At various times of the day, every day, I take two packets of Threelac and one or two lactobaccilus caps (sp). If I have extreme leg pain I have to take three advil. For headaches or other aches I take two excedrin. Usually every day I take this at some point. I tried to take two baby asprin a day, but Im not good at rememebering and it doesnt help (so I read) if you take it within 24 hrs of Excedrin... and that is the only thing that helps me sometimes. What Ive added most recently is the Evening primrose oil. Within the past 2 weeks or so. I hate to think that is making me worse, as everything I read about it sounds great! I know the Lexapro can make you fatigued and I just read that it can cause weight gain. I HAVE to be on some kind of anti dep... was thinking about trying Welbutrin. Any thoughts or ideas? I feel like Im a bit " pill crazy " !!! I dont sleep good. I can fall asleep easy enough but I wake up too early and cant go back to sleep. I wake up at 4am sometimes, then have a very honery 4 yyr old boy to deal with. I tried sleeping pills and they only worked for a whileand not that great anyway. Melatonin doesnt work. The supps I take at bedtime seem to help the most. I have to add that ALL my hypo symptoms hit me the week my brother died of cancer a few years ago. I had a tiny bit of weight gain and trouble handeling any big " issues " (like child custody after divorce casued a breakdown)before that and I had been on Prozac with no real problems. Then, my brother got sick and while watching him die and dealing with everyone else having breakdowns, I held together (Im a situation fixer. Always have been.) Then when he died I hit the floor. I gained 25 pound in less than one week and was a mental mess.(I wasnt eating like abig old pig or anything either.) (ok, maybe a little, not not THAT much!) It hasnt stopped yet. I switched to lexapro, but still gaining weight like mad. Total, Ive gained about 50 pounds now. I am so fat and unhealthy. I have suspected some " stress switch " flipped on, or off or something that caused me to get where I am today... but no doc knows what to tell me. Sorry for the LONG post. But I just feel like there is an answer. I just need to get the right detail to the right person. Ive posted my story in bits and peices in various places. I thought Id post the whole thing this time. The biggest advice I get is to try Armour. I did. It was worse. THANK YOU for reading this far!!! Guest guest
Hi Theresa, I'm new here - just found this site today - so I don't know if anybody has said this before, but flax oil is a goitrogen - and I have heard that evening primrose is, too. So that could be why you aren't feeling any better. Hope this helps. lili > > Meds and supplements I take each day. Am I doing something wrong > that might be making me feel worse? Guest guest
Oh, I just noticed you take both Iron and Vit C - unless you have been directed by your doctor to take both of those for a very specific reason STOP. Too much iron will give the same symptoms - and vit C makes the iron situation stronger - so if your doc said to do it for a disease then check with him first. IF you are only doing it because you felt like trying it, or some one misguidedly said " try iron it won't hurt " then discontinue it. Excess iron is dangerous. Your body has no way to get rid of excess iron except through loss of blood. Sorry to be a party pooper. -Lynn > > > > Meds and supplements I take each day. Usually every day > I take this at some point. I am confused?? AM... synthroid( upper) Ritalin ( upper) Lexapro ( upper/depressant) Lunch...Ritalin ( upper) Magnessium( relaxant) Prevacid ( relaxant) CoQ10 ( stimulant) Evening primrose oil ( stimulant) Flax oil ( relaxant) Iron ( stimulant) Vitamin C ( stimulant) Dinner..CoQ10 ( stimulant) Evening primrose oil ( stimulant) Bedtime.Magnessium( relaxant) Multivitamin ( stimulant) B-complex ( simulant) Calcium Do not know what Threelac is. Advil is a pain blocker/antinflammatory. This is just my opinion and I understand you are dealing with more than one issue at one time but you have so many medications that are working against each other and either bringing you up or bringing you down it is hard to tell what is going on.. Things I know..Synthroid should be taken on an empty stomach..apart form other meds.. Prevacid is an antacid and needs to be at least 4 hours apart from Synthroid. Same with iron. Levapro is an antidepressant that should not be taken with Advil as it can increase your risk of bleeding. Considering low iron this also increases your chance of bleeding. Calcium is usually reccomended 2 hours apart from other meds at it does directly effect the absorption , it also sohuld be taken with magnesium and Vitamin D to help with absorption. Flax seed oil falls in the same catagory as Calcium as far as effecting absorption from the stomach.. also is not reccomnended in some one with sstomach problems ( Prevacid) Evening primrose oil interacts with your Physc meds.. Ritalin interacts with Advil and with Levapro ( although sometimes can be used together if they are both used to treat depression) CoQ10 and advil interact. I am not a medical professional and in know way can I give advice on which meds to take or not to take or how to adjust them. But I feel you need to sit down with either a natural path willing to work with both conventional and non conventional meds or a patient care pharmacist that can go over your meds and help reduce them and the interactions. What I see though is you are taking a lot of meds that interfere with your stomach and with the stomach absorption, so if these can be minimized..You need to stay away from NSAIDS while on Levapro and while on Ritalin..Advil is an NSAIDS.. you also need to stay away from NSAIDS while on stomach medication(Prevacid).. Unfortunately you also can not stop taking ADVIl with out something else that is going to help with the pain. Excluding the prescription meds can you right down why you are taknig each medication? Maybe someone here can help..and maybe you can back off of a few of the supplements or combine them? Or change when you are taking certain things to see if that helps? Like maybe an alarm so you take the synthroid 1 hour before the other meds and switch the multis and B's to dinner and take a magnesium with calcium and D at night( this combination will relax you) .. plus all vitamins generally should be taken with food to limit stomach upset which you obviously have. I am thinking with all the ups and downs of these meds that having adrenals tested might also be a good thing for you.. Kats3boys

Guest guest
Hi Tammy, I started on B12 recently and YES I feel very “zippy” after taking them —sort of like I just drank 2 or 3 cups of coffee! Guest guest
My take on this is that your labs may be showing "normal", but your body tissues may very well be resistant to the hormone. As for the migraines and the T3, could it be that you have an allergy to one of the fillers in the Cytomel causing the magraines, rather than it being intolerance of the T3 itself? Cytomel is synthetic also, but, of course, Armour has fillers in it, too, to stick it together and make it stable, as all tablet form meds do. Also, could you be adrenal intolerant? Two completely different idease, but maybe it could be either one, being as the labs show a high normal. B vitamin or iron deficiency, possibly? These are all only things to look at. Also, Lexapro is an SSRI, which means that it does block thyroid hormones from getting into tissues, that is now a proven fact. Iron and/or calcium taken within 4 hrs or so of your thyroid med also keeps it from being absorbed out of your digestive tract. Prozac, Zoloft, Lexapro, Celexa, and Paxil are all SSRI antidepressants. Evening Primrose has an estrogen-like effect, and we now know that estrogen in higher amts, unbridled by Progesterone for balance, blocks the uptake into the body cells, due to competing with the thyroid hormone for uptake. What I take in one day: Am I killing myself slowly? Meds and supplements I take each day. I had a tiny bit of weight gain and trouble handeling any big "issues" (like child custody after divorce casued a breakdown)before that and I had been on Prozac with no real problems. I have suspected some "stress switch" flipped on, or off or something that caused me to get where I am today... but no doc knows what to tell me. Guest guest
Becca, Thanks for this info. I am the idiot who is taking the prevacid everyday. I knew it was bad for me, and I have tried to quit... but I get weird pains in my chest if I stop. Did you feel that? It freaks me out (scares me!) so I jump right back into the bottle of Prevacid. What would you suggest, based on your own personal experience? !Re: Re: What I take in one day: Am I killing myself slowly? Hi Tammy, I agree with .Seems as if this is another area where traditional doctors just "don't get it." I was on aciphex at $6 bucks a pill, which helped stop the GERD symptoms, but didn't help with absorption issues –just made them worse amongst other things. We have learned for whatever reasons to think that acid in our stomachs is the enemy -- not true! It (acid in our stomachs) IS the first line of defense we have against disease and the crucial way that we break down foods so we can absorb healthy nutrients. The test to see if you have low or high stomach is to swallow a tablespoon of vinegar when you get heartburn; if you get relief you have low stomach acid or if you get no relief or the burn intensifies you have high stomach acid. See: http://www.wholehealthclinic.com/dis/hypochlorhydria.htmAlso, Sherry MD has written a number of books, like "No more heartburn" "Detox or Die" "You are what you eat" "Tired or Toxic" and more. She has been my life support.I too, thought I had an overload of stomach acid, but that wasn't true -just the opposite and I naively did as my doctor said and took the pill, which only multiplied problems with deficient stomach acid. Now I take a tablespoon of vinegar before meals or drink lemon water, as I couldn't remember to take Betaine for healthy stomach acid. Also, you should NOT drink any liquid with a meal, but most docs don't tell you that either -it dilutes the digestive gases. I also had Barrett's Syndrome, which can lead to esophageal cancer -but it has healed and is gone because of proper natural treatment. Now I absorb nutrients much better. BTW, my children's pediatrician warned me about the high incidence of stomach cancer among patients taking acid suppressors. This woke me up to my digestive problems as well as those of my son. Eventually we found out, just as Dr. states in his book that allergies can be the culprit . We are both allergic and cannot tolerate potatoes in any form. Perhaps that explains why $ynthroid and Levoxyl made me worse. Although I haven't taken the time to research the studies, I'll bet they prove that more incidences of stomach cancer occur in patients who take acid suppressors.Becca>> Hi Tammy> > If you could eliminate the need for antacids and at the same time, improve your physical condition, wouldnt you consider it? >
