Guest guest
Tell welcome home--and I'm glad she had a good time. I would LOVE to have the chance to do that--my father-in-law lives in Germany right now (near Kaiserslautern, I believe) as he is in the Army. He was going to fly a there next summer for a month, and take her all over Europe, but now he may not be able to, as they are closing, if not the whole base, at least his division, and so he may not be there then. a is really disappointed!! , mom to Codybug (pwcf, 5-1/2), a (wocf, 12-1/2) and DJ (wocf, 7) smichelle15@... 's home Hi everyone, Sorry I did not have a chance to write sooner. got home from her trip to Europe on Tuesday night. The first thing she wanted was to stop at 7-11 to get a slurpee. She loves slurpees and gets one about every day.(she missed them!) She had a great time in Europe, with the possible exception of Paris. She brought home t-shirts and a teddy bear, a beer glass and a couple of shot glasses (my son has a thing for shot glasses). OH yes and don't let me forget, the Mozart's Balls(it is candy!)She is doing Ok , she has just been pretty tired. I called about her surgery (sinus and a bronch) and it has to be recheduled. We got a change in insurance starting July 1 and I didn't have the cards until about the 12th, so I called the doc's offices and they have to resubmit the paperwork to get the authorization. Aren't HMO's fun? Anyway, they told us to go ahead with the Tobi and they still want to do the bronch. I was wondering if we should hold the tobi until after the bronch and then they could tell better what organisms she is growing. But they didn't want us to, so we will start it today. Would have last night but she went in her room at about 8:00 pm and never came out, checked on her at 9:00 and she was asleep. So I decided to let it go last night. She was also starting to cough a little yesterday so hopefully the tobi will help that. Well I guess that's about it from here. My mother-in-law is here for the weekend, it was her birthday yesterday. Nick is doing fine. take care everybody! love,
Guest guest
, I don't know as much about cf as you, but when Eilish has a bronc. of which she's had many we are to stop ALL antibiotics for two weeks before hand to show what really is growing there and not have any masked. I'm glad she had a great time. Why didn't she like Paris? I'd love to go to Egypt always have wanted to but I realise its quite dangerous there. Guest guest
Hi , That is why I asked about holding off on the tobi but they said do it so we are. I am not sure why she didn't like Paris, she said it was smelly and dirty and the people were rude, plus it was hot and the hotel had of all things RATS!! ick.. NO offence to anyone out there who is French. love, M mom of Nick, age 19 no cf and age 17 wcf
Guest guest
That was exactly my opinion. I did like the Moulin Rouge. I think the folks are rude....I was there for some time so it wasn't just a tourist thingy. I was even disappointed in the museums. cold-dirty & not the least bit as I expected....BUT I was raised in the Mellon Art Gallery in Wash.D.C.-now known as the sonian. Oh,even the boat trip was sooooooo smelly as we went thru Paris. I don't mean any offense either. It was really that way. I am sure most folks live out in the countryside ---which is beautiful. we drove all thru that. I had driven over from Germany. Now that is a beautiful --clean country. I loved that, stayed 2 months.Even those I don't speak the languages over there ALL were speaking English to me to make me feel welcome. Very nice. My daughter lived there 4 years so I went over each year & stayed 2 months each time. Nice , huh:):) is one smart classy gal, :):) I am glad she is back tho & into her routine. take care .Wish I could get to see you in San this year. Carol Weber is coming ,as is her daughter....maybe others who live closer might be too. You could check with CFRI on who has registered & on scholarships for hotel.....LOVE YA ! LOVE & HUGS, GrandmomBEV Re: 's home Hi , That is why I asked about holding off on the tobi but they said do it so we are. Guest guest
Hi , I'm sorry to hear isn't feeling well. Shantell's not either. She's on Zithromax and starting to recover. I'm supposed to leave next Wednesday for vacation and I'm scared to leave her here. Her brother is here though. Anyway, I hope she gets her sinus problem taken care of soon! Guest guest
Thanks, F-G, Sorry I got really behind on email. is doing pretty well now. I just wish they would get together and get the sinus surgery and the bronch scheduled. I have been calling every day and haven't gotten to speak to anyone, our regular cf nurse is on sick leave. I really have no idea what's wrong with her. Anyway, thanks and I hope to hear from you, are you gone to Alaska yet? I hope Shantell is feeling better as well. love, M
Guest guest
Hi M, I read about a new drug for sinus infections called GATIFLOXACIN (Teqin) and it is supposed to be the latest for nose/upper respiratory infections. Shantell has an appointment this morning with the sinus doctor. I hope they can help her, I hate to leave while she's not feeling great. Makes me really nervous. Glad to hear is doing alright too. The sinus stuff really bugs me because there's not a whole lot you can do and she's a bear with the headaches! It is such a relieve now that it is behind us except we have to go in this Friday for them to clean out her nose. She will have to be put under for this procedure. But figure this should be nothing compared to the polyps being remove and the bronchoscope. We are still waiting for the results of the bronc. We are hoping to hear before end of the week. Guest guest
Hi Deb, Thanks for the reply. I hope your daughter is feeling better by now. They have never done 2 surgeries like that for . They did take her back to surgery once when she had stents and once when she had a Caldwell-Luc to take out the packing. The ENT said she didn't want to hate her, and after she said the packing was quite stuck in there so I was really glad she decided to put her under again for that. Anywa, we are still waiting and now it is looking like it may not get done until school starts in Sept. I'd really like to get it done before that so I guess I will be calling again next week. I really hate that. Thanks again, love, M mom of Nick age 19 nocf and age 17 wcf PS: Jen I don't think I will be able to make the chat tonite, but could you post the addy anyway, in case I can, or maybe some others need it.
