> www.stopthethyroidmadness.com there is heaps of information

I visited this site (yeah, I am a little, no make that a lot, behind

on emails...I have literally been too tired to read) and it makes me

even more upset that for 47 years I have been taking synthroid or

equivalent (that is way before TSH or T3 or T4; that is back in the

days of PBI which I don't even hear mentioned anymore)and yet I have

had many of these symptoms all of my life. Read that as synthroid

wasn't solving my problems even as a little girl with a huge goiter.

I took a list of some of these symptoms to my endo and he still said

that I looked good on paper...give me a break!!!

# Less energy than others

# Arms feeling like dead weights after activity

# Chronic Low Grade Depression - antidepressants off and on since 27

# Often feeling cold especially feet

# Debilitating reaction to exercise - now add hypoglycemia

# No eyebrows or thinning outer eyebrows

# Requires naps in the afternoon

# Inability to concentrate or read long periods of time

# Forgetfulness & Foggy thinking

# Inability to Lose weight

# NO sex drive - hubby just loves this one

# Excruciating pain during period - hysterectomy at 35

# Aching bones/muscles - took Celebrex until I got afraid of it

# Osteoporosis

# Exhaustion in every dimension–physical, mental, spiritual, emotional

# Inability to stand on feet for long periods

# Complete lack of motivation

# Slowing to a snail's pace when walking up slight grade - almost

panting lately

# Internal itching of ears - I thought this was allergy related

# Broken/peeling fingernails - is there any other kind

# Lactose Intolerance

# Inability to eat in the mornings - makes stomach hurt

# Joint pain

# Carpal tunnel symptoms

# Varicose Vains

# Low body temperature

yep have got all that next list. i have also been to that other list and looked around and mpo i was not that impressed. I am happier right here where I actually know for a fact that I am getting the knowledge of things. It was an okay site but I am happy in the site I am in and would not switch to another group for anything.Peggy wrote: > www.stopthethyroidmadness.com there is heaps of informationI visited this site (yeah, I am a little, no make that a lot, behindon emails...I have literally been too tired to read) and it makes meeven more upset that for 47 years I have been taking synthroid orequivalent (that is way before TSH or T3 or T4; that is back in thedays of PBI which I don't even hear mentioned anymore)and yet I havehad many of these symptoms all of my life. Sorry don't mean to sound snotty or cocky but I think I have gained enough knowledge on this site to get me through my life and understand and know what I am talking about When begging a Dr to give me a referal. Tina, I didn't think you were being hateful at all, and I wasn't

recommending that site. I saw it mentioned in a previous email and

looked at the symptoms list. I haven't been here long enough to learn

much yet; and it is so hard for me to process information when I am so

tired all of the time.

In the last 3 years I have been to a hematologist, rheumatologist, and

endocrinologist. My blood work has been screwed up in too many ways

to count from neutropenia to high calcium, etc. Now I am beginning to

think the chronic fatigue and everything else may be due to

hypothyroidism (and adrenal stress)that I have been treating

unsuccessfully for nearly 50 years. Having gastric bypass may have

brought everything to a turning point because it added absorption

problems and also the stress of surgery and literally starvation.

However, most of the symptoms I have had at least 30 years. The

hypertension, high cholesterol, and GERD did disappear after the

surgery...but I hardly think there is a symptom I haven't had at one time.

When I went to the endo, the info I had was from this site, no other;

but he wouldn't have listened if it had been from Mayo Clinic. He had

his view and he was sticking to it.

Hi Peggy, I am so sorry you have gone so long without treatment oh my goodness that is terrible and I know what you mean about the Dr they can be such jerks at times. I have been in a battle with my family Dr I have had for years about giving me a refferal to a Endo I found on the site Shoman had I think it is in Thyrophoenix links section any way they have a site called top Doc it is DR who she recommends if she knows of any in your area or a DR someone else recommends cause they have been to them and have had good success with them. Now with my insurance I don't need a referal but the DR I want to go to asks for one to get an appointment. Don't now why all of a sudden my Family Dr has gone over to the other side and become a major ass but he now thinks he is God and can handle my Hashimoto's and he is not doing anything. The

Ideal Dr will listen to you and then treat you from there they should not go on Numbers alone they need to hear you out . I sure hope you can soon get someone to hear you out and listen to what you are saying. Hope you don't have to battle for a good Dr all though I think alot of us here have gone through alot of DR's That is also why alot of people here self treat and self medicate. If I don't get my Referal I am seriously reconcidering it. oh and I know what you mean about the slow processor I am as well just one of the many symtoms we all call it brain fog. I wish you luck Peggy hugsss TinaPeggy wrote: Tina, I didn't think you were being hateful at all, and I wasn'trecommending that site. Sounds like you have been dealing with Hypo for a lot of years, Peggy... and no doubt the absorption issues aren't going to be making it any better...

Can you run by what you are doing for meds and supplements now and how your labs look for me again?

It is hard, when your brain wants to just lay there, to learn new stuff and even to make new friends... so don't worry that anyone here will judge you if you have to ask questions until you get the hang of things.. the better grasp you have of the thyroid stuff the better you will be able to talk with your doc, and at the very least you will know when your getting the run around, cuz you'll know what is going on and don't have to cower before a doc that says you don't know anything....

I've got a page set up just for those of us that need to review the meds and tests and such... so you can go there whenever you are tripping over stuff that folks are talking about or want to make sure that you are understanding something right.. www.thyrophoenix.com/thyroid_101.htm

You can ask all the questions that you want, as often as you want, until it sticks in your brain.. that's how most of us here learned... asking and reading and asking and reading again...

Cuz it ain't Alzheimer's or stupidity... its a from being HYPO!!!!

Time for me to say a big thank you to everyone that has jumped right in to help with folks questions while I've been busy with stuff... It made things a LOT easier for me knowing that everything was being taken care of here!!!

I should be around more again now.. the ThyroPhoenix site is moved to the new host and running stable.... I still have a TON of emails to go through, I'll be picking on that for a few days yet. Unless something gets goofed up... I'm back.....

.... if you guys want me that is!

*blush*

Yahoo does like to eat posts... so if any of you post something that doesn't get an answer within about 24 hours, please post again.. We're all volunteers here and sometimes things get missed... or eaten... or end up being challenging enough to trigger some research!
