Guest guest
I have tried increasing potassium, magnesium, calcium, drinking more water. Nothing has worked for me. My doctor said they are a form of dystonia, which can be seen by itself, or in PD, etc. He even gave me Quinine for it, but I had such bad reactions to the Quinine the two times I used it. He said not to use it again since I could be allergic to it. Guess that also means I won't be taking any vacations to any countries that have Malaria mosquitoes if I can't take prevention for it. Guest guest
Greetings Tricia! I know you're probably already covered this, but wondered if you tried Zanaflex or Baclofen for the leg cramps. I am attempting Zanaflex now. Seems to help some. Though I suspect I will need a higher dosage. Regards, =jbf= B. Fisher
Guest guest
Hi , No. So far, just Quinine, Tegretol, Ativan and now Klonopin. These all from my new Internist, not the new neurologist yet. Guest guest
Tricia: My husband also suffers with leg cramps. We have tried many things over the years including which seemed to help some of the time. We frequently rubbed his legs when he was cramping and then put a heating pad over his leg or legs. Since he had some (even though limited) positive benefit from the heating pad a homeopathic practictioner that I see recommened that he try Magnesium phosphate 6X tablets. As soon as he feels his legs or leg cramping he is given 20 tablets in a small amount of warm water and he sips the solution. This has definitely brought some relief. Now, at the inception of cramping he requests 12 tab in warm water. I purchase the Mag/Phos 6X at a Health food store and the cost is about $7.50. Remember that this remedy was suggested because he had a positive response to heat on the cramping area which was usually his entire leg! He also gets Range of Movement exercises for his legs 6 X a day and this contributes to the decrease in the cramping. I hope someone in this network support has a suggestion that will help. It all up for grabs!!

Guest guest
Tricia: Unfortunately, I cannot give you the reason or reasons that this homeopathic remedy works for my husband. I have been active in Eastern thought and complimentary medicine for myself for 30 years and find it most helpful in many, but not all areas. My husband also saw a homeopatic practicioner prior to his DX with MSA. This practictioner was quick to say that she could not help him over all. She has recommended other "possible" remedies for his leg cramps but none of them seemed to work over a trial period. When the homeopathic practioner heard me say that my husband responded to heat in a positive way she recommended trying Mag/Phos. The heat on his legs did not take the cramps away - it merely eased some of the discomfort - this was the homeopatic"clue" for the giving MAG/Phos a try. My husband and I are very involved in Western and Eastern thought re our health. The Mag/Phos may be something you can check out with your medical support people. If I can give you any further info re our experience with cramping I would be happy to do so. God Bless --
