Okay, Ladies! I have a " sentinal " question. :-) Do you have

implants? If so, are you satisfied? Any problems?? I'm possibly

looking at surgery in a month (hopefully). I have changed my mind so

many times already concerning reconstruction. It's a long story. I

saw the plastic surgeon yesterday and he said I would be a good

candidate for implants. I will be having a bilateral mastectomy.

Thanks!!

That is what I hope to have too Frances.. My surgery is Sept 29. I

will also be having a bilateral mastectomy. I hope to have the expanders put

in at the time of the surgery. I have already had my chemo but will still have

to have 6 weeks of radiation after surgery. I say " hope " to have because

the plastic surgeon has said he will do it that same day barring complications.

I know others who have had the implants and are very pleased.

Blessings,

Oh yes, would you do it all again if you had the chance?

ALL and I do mean ALL of my friends that have opted for

reconstruction are very pleaed with their results. The ones that did

not reconstruct are happy as well. I had a

lumpectomy so can not answer what I would do in that case-

My only thought is to do what your heart leads you to do

after thought and prayer,

Actually, I am getting my implants, (yeah plural even though I still

have one breast) on Sept. 5. It would seem according to my plastic

surgeon, who is young enough to be my son, that my left breast is

" deflated " . You don't suppose nursing 3 kids had any thing to do with

that do you? My right side has an expander that was placed at the

time of mastectomy and is over " inflated " . So next Tuesday the left

will be " inflated " and the right " deflated " . Jeeze didn't know they

were balloons! The expander will be exchanged for the implant under

the pectoral muscle on the right side. Because of the over

" inflation " it should " hang " naturally. A smaller implant will be

placed under the muscle of the left breast to achieve balance. Sooo,

I should come out of this " chestier " than when I went in. As long as

I don't have to wear a bra, I will be happy. That is a new trick I

don't want to learn! Oh, and I have given strict orders for NOT too

perky. I have my age to think of you know.

Ruth

PS Ya know how they give you a marker to mark the spot before

surgery. Wellll, since I am going to have both done, I am going to

write " bal " over the right side and " ance " over the left side. When I

was asked to indicate the side for mastectomy I wrote " path. spec. "

over the one that is now preserved in Paraffin at the hospital path. lab.
