Jen,

I was 44 when diagnosed and after the 3rd chemo never got another period. I

started spotting I think it was 2 yrs ago. That was after 14 yrs of no periods.

I was checked and after some testing we decided to do a total abdominal

hysterectomy. I've not had any problems since and never had any hot flashes or

anything when I first stopped my periods. I guess I have been really lucky.

Hey All;

Thank you for your info and your kind words. Actually, my surgeon did

go back in (they biopsy a sample while you're still in O.R.) and take a

second, wider margin...he took as much as he could without doing a

mastectomy during the first surgery. I don't think they'll do a

mastectomy after a lumpectomy without your consent...he was hopeful since

he took such an extra wide margin that he got it all the first time

(unfortunately I guess I got a Ronco tumor - you know the, " but

wait....there's more!! " deal : ) I do have both of my path reports in

my (appropriately bright) pink notebook and should have my estrogen

receptor info tomorrow. This will dictate what comes after the chemo as

far as the follow up drugs... Tamoxifin, etc., right? I was also curious

to know (roughly) what the chances are of early menopause.

I can't imagine handling a management job in a convenience store (wow -

you are the WOMAN), but I'm hoping I won't be too much of a waste of

space (although working in a high school with teenagers, I'm pretty sure

I'd blend in just fine with the locals : ) My biggest - and most selfish

- worry is my horses...I don't want to have to neglect them too much (I

waited too long for them). Training has been temporarily put on hold due

to my fascinating new hobby (ha), but I'm hoping I can pick at least some

of it back up. I have been riding several times since I got rid of the

drain, but not much else. I've made arrangements to leave work most days

at 1:45 so I have time to come home and crash for an hour before my

daughter gets home. I remember reading someplace (in the 50 million

things I've read thus far : ) that it's not so much more straight sleep

(at night), but resting and nap time during the day...that sound right?

I'm pretty sure my question count is somewhere in the vicinity of six

digits : ) but I'll try to control myself and ration them (it's either

that, or figure a way to attach Extra Strength Tylenols to my ramblings -

smile). Oh, and Janet I like your scripture...funnily enough, I

" happened " to be in right before my second surgery and was

immediately struck by 1:2 and 1:12 - if they don't fit, I don't

know what does : )

Have a blessed night all!

- Jen

Hi;

I love your sense of humor !! I have as many questions as you if that's any

consolation!! I have my " fun with toxic chemicals " consultation, as you

put it, on Friday. Supposedly it lasts all day. Then I have some sort of

meeting with the " team " , as it was termed, the following Tuesday Then I

suppose it all begins. I hope to be able to work as well. I went to my

workplace today for what was supposed to be a short visit and ended up

staying for the whole day. It was nice to be back there. I work in an

inbound call center as a Supervisor with 300 employees and it was nice to

see everyone. Of course I did some work, sat in on a conference call and

took work home during my " visit " . That's ok though. It keeps me going. My

director told our CEO today that he's quite confident that I'll be back next

week even if it's part time. I'm hoping he knows something that I don't !!
