Guest guest
HI Becky You bet we know and understand hon. I"m just so so sorry that happened to you. *sigh* That's definitely happened to me so I know the feeling and hurt for you! Anyway hon I've no advice and no need to say DON"T EVER DO THAT AGAIN! LOL I'm sure the lesson was well learned. Unless we absolutely know it's yeast, its' not something to do (use an OTC yeast med). I'm fortunate that I know definitely when I do and can use those and have success but WOW just shows what can happen. I only use the one time use one too, (Vagistat) no way would I ever use the 3 or 7 day ones plus Vagistat is one that works on the resistant yeasts like glabrata as well as the candida strain. Knock on wood *** it's been years tho since I had one. Anyway I just hope that it's let up a bit for you today and hopefully even more by tomorrow. I'm so sorry. Hang in there hon, maybe try some ice? This too shall pass. HugsDee~
Guest guest
<< I absentmindedly threw 2 TBSP of baking soda in that small amount of water instead of 2 tsp. and after 10 or 15 min of sitting there, i got up to find my outer labia swollen. Did not panic...just realized the concentation was way to great, so just rinsed with plain water for the next 48 hours, and within 1 1/2 - 2 days it was back to normal.>> Carolyn, Thanks for sharing this tidbit, too! The doctor at the Urgent number told me I could never use too much baking soda. "It's all natural and can't hurt you." You've just proved that theory wrong! <<I woke up at 3:00am with a GIGANTIC VULVA....I describe it as the size of one of those small nerf footballs (slightly exaggerated. ...but close)It was like my vulva had been magnified 1000 times! What was going on! It was the most intense itching ever, and just soooo swollen----it was so grotesque looking that it scared me half to death.>> The wierd thing about it all is that I've used Monistat at least 2 other times with no reaction. Nerf football--we can laugh about it now, right? Yeah, it was pretty bad! Thanks for sharing! Becky Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr. We'll help. Yahoo! Small Business. Guest guest
Just wondering for the ladies that have had these reactions-does an antihistamine like benadryl/allegra/claritin seem to help the itching? they have helped a lot for me. Guest guest
Hi Lindsey, You know, I remember being on the fence about whether or not I should give benedryl a try at that point....and I guess the reason I didn't was that I have never used benedryl ever...not on me, not on my kids....so I wasn't sure how i'd react and to be honest, I was really in a place of being 'freaked' out about trying ANYTHING for fear of how my body would react ))). Maybe it would have helped! Good suggestion:) CarolLynn _________________________________________________________________ All-in-one security and maintenance for your PC. Get a free 90-day trial! http://clk.atdmt.com/MSN/go/msnnkwlo0050000001msn/direct/01/?href=http://www.win\ dowsonecare.com/?sc_cid=msn_hotmail

Guest guest
Hi Becky, Yeh, I guess I can chuckle about it now.....but would never wish it on anyone ever! It really was one of the scariest things I've ever experienced (on a physical level) and glad it is behind me! It was so swollen I thought it would 'split' open on me. Thank goodness the oatmeal baths actually gave some relief...even if it was only temporary and did take quite a while to heal. I was so grateful for the oatmeal, I remember. Actually, also when we finally took our delayed trip to Texas to rockclimb, one of the young climbing guides had this horrible persistant rash all over the back of his hands and was looking for relief. I filled the sink for him with a cup or so of oatmeal and told him to just soak for awhile in it. After only 10 minutes he was amazed at how much better they felt and next day they looked almost completely healed CarolLynn > >Reply-To: VulvarDisorders >To: VulvarDisorders >Subject: Re: Just a vent--yeast and reaction >Date: Tue, 10 Oct 2006 07:38:02 -0700 (PDT) > ><< I absentmindedly threw 2 >TBSP of baking soda in that small amount of water instead of 2 tsp. and >after 10 or 15 min of sitting there, i got up to find my outer labia >swollen. Guest guest
I'm no physician, but benadryl can be pretty helpful. My MIL is a physician and she takes it every night before bed because of persistent hives. I know that it can have long-term effects on people so read the label and follow the instructions about how long to take it. My allergist, who is working in conjunction with my ob/gyn for this vulvar problem, has prescribed allegra 2x per day. The pharmacist refused to dispense because, "It might cause side effects like dry mouth, what are you taking it for?" I LOUDLY explained my condition, "VULVAR VESTIBULITIS, IT IS AN INFLAMMATION OF MY VULVA AND THE OPENING OF MY VAGINA. I AM HAPPY TO RISK THE SIDE EFFECTS OF DRY MOUTH." That got me the prescription. It seems to be helping. Where I was having serious burning and pain and itching, I am now having mild itching interspersed with bouts of....NOTHING. No pain, itching, or burning. So I guess my regimine has been elavil (12.5 mg), diflucan (my primary care doc refused to prescribe it long-term because of liver effects, but she did give me an extended three-day course), allegra or benadryl, and yoga. I'm starting pt tomorrow. Lindsey All-new Yahoo! Mail - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster.
