Question for DEE

Hi Dee,

Have started using the E & T creams. The directions on the tubes are

slightly different from what you say has worked for you. The tubes

say to alternate E one night, T the next. I have been using them the

way you describe: massage E in and massage T on top of E...using very

small amount--size of pea. Have used for 5-7 days than took a week

off while treating a yeast infection with the baking soda baths. Have

already noticed an increase in breast size and gained three pounds.

Have been 111 lbs (at 5'6 " )for 4 years and unable to gain despite best

efforts. Wow--pretty sudden effects! I wonder if I should do the

alternating regimen rather than both each night. Should I worry about

increased breast size or is that a relatively benign symptom? No

change yet in vulva.

thanks Dee,

CarolLynn ;)

HI CarolLynn

Hon there really is no exact recipe for using the E & T... I can only tell how "I" used it and how it worked for me hon. So bottom line depends on you and your physician. ;)

I only added the T about every 3rd night to the E. (but that was after I moved up to a schedule of almost every night with the E. which took me some time)

In early months I could barely use the Estrace (only used that in the beginning) because of how the 'base' in it irritated me so I was lucky if I could use it once every 3rd or 4th night...(which would mean only about 8-10 X's in a month. but once it did start rebuilding that skin a few months later, I was able to move it to more often till months later almost every night.. That's when I added the T about every 3rd time of using the E and right on top of it.

The E. might cause some tender breasts hon if using it every night but again each body is so different and age makes a big difference too. Just like the birth control pills when someone is new on those... they too might cause some breast tenderness till the body adjusts. Not that ''I'' think it's serious but you might want to taper off a little bit hon if it's a bother for you.

Just remember it does take time.. (that's the hardest part) and we're too often tempted to hurry up and want to use more but skin just has it's own rate of renewal and can't be rushed. Just like it takes time for a black fingernail to grow out or our hair to grow longer, so it takes patience and persistence hon... but it will definitely get that V tissue healthier. :) So hang in there but take it easy. :)

Big hugs

Dee~

Dear Dee,

Everything you have just re-iterated makes a lot of sense. Thanks again for

your very patient and caring input--I appreciate you so much! I will back

off a bit and see what happens. Glad to hear the larger breasts aren't

something to necessarily worry about and maybe backing off will make a

difference. You're so right about 'patience'......it is hard to not wish

healing could progress faster.....but everything you say....points well

taken :) *sigh*

CarolLynn :)

Does E & T cream put weight on?

Hi Sherri, ;) I've never put any weight on and I'm even on an oral sublingual that's really high in both E & T for my hormone replacement and that's daily for years...(plus the E & T creams twice a week for the vulvar tissue)

BUT what might happen is the T does help to tone us up and converts fat into muscle or at least tones us up (I definitely don't mean like a body builder. LOL) but muscle weighs more than fat. So there might be some slight adjustment. But the T is also supposed to let us keep our feminine figures and not get the fallen down Pear shape many develop as we get older. :)

PLUS the T is so good for the ol' bones... many say even better than E...

Recently my bone scan came out excellent and both the doc and I said at the same time.. there's the proof that long term use of the 'bio-identical hormones do work as a preventative if started early enough. ;)

I also would doubt using just the E & T creams with a peasize a few times a week would do much at all in that direction as far as weight (or bones) ... since it's not usually that systemic in the average person and why all ages can usually use it topically (tiny amt.) meno or not and is focused specifically on the genital tissue. My thoughts on it hon for what it's worth.

hugs

Hi,

After reading your post to Sherri, Dee, I just thought I'd add a little

something in hopes of clarification.:) I could be way off on this, but this

is why I feel certain that the E and T creams have increased my breast size

in this very short period of time....and I guess it is the breasts where

most of my 3 lb weight gain is focused. When it first became apparent to

me, I let it sink in for a couple of days, and one morning in the kitchen, I

said to my husband, " Hey hon, have you noticed " .....at which point he

interjected with, " that your breasts are larger?....yeah, i did! " . I knew

then, that it wasn't just me thinking this. Maybe it was so noticeable

because my breasts were so small to begin with! Just to emphasize how

obvious the gain is......later in the day we were in the car together and i

mentioned how odd it was that my breasts were so sore, especially the left

one. I kept tugging on my bra during our drive and fussing about how sore

they were, when it hit my husband that it was that the bra was too small!

Ahah! I took it off then and there in the parking lot of whole foods and

felt certain relief. They continued hurting several more hours from the

compression...but less and less until it is barely noticeable now. In fact

the left breast is slightly larger than the other. I am extremely fit and

active with very little body fat (not so much by choice, as I'd love to have

more weight on my bones)but my best efforts to gain weight do nothing but

frustrate the heck out of me. So, to gain wt (3 lbs) over a one or possibly

two week period has been unheard of for me. Anyway, it has definitely

concerned me enough to hold back the E and T some and am doing every other

day now and will see how that goes.

I reread the info that came with the creams from the pharmacist and under

the testosterone it does say -changes in wt-, under possible known

side-effects. Then again, if the weight gain is pretty much exclusive to

the breasts.....then it might not be categorized as such. That would be

more -increase in breast size- which is listed under 'other possible

effects' of the estrogen.

I know this has happened in such a short time period.....but being married

to my husband for 25 years now.....we knew how small my breasts were all

these years and it wasn't hard to notice the difference since they have

grown in size.

CarolLynn :)

Thanks for listening:)

HI CarolLynn. ;)

Well I hear you hon... and no doubt it is a surprise for you. ;) But I know part of being menopausal or going into it, often changes our body structure too. LOL . Ask me I'll tell ya, *chuckle* I never had such big boobs, ha ha, of course my new husband likes to take credit for that, *wink* )... but what's strange is that I can fluctuate 5 lbs in a day or two (up or down) and even from am to pm.

I used to be a solid 130 all my life (athletic muscular build type) and it never changed. So who knows and this is just recently where I've been on hormones for probably 15 yrs or more so I can't say it's that. Jack says it's cause I'm happy and content. LOL Who knows? maybe.. ;)

But I'm glad you're tapering down with the E & T to see if it might be that and it just might be esp. if that's the only change hon. But I sure hope it's starting to heal that V. tissue. It'll make it all worth while if so and I doubt hubby's complaining,*chuckle*.

Big hugs

Dee~ ;)
