Guest guest
HI Joyce, Hon If you are having luck with the Estrace cream topically I'd probably stick with that as long as it's not irritating you. But technically? If you were to use the E-string alone inside the vagina? That dosage amt. is SO very minimal in potency and most of it would be absorbed via the vaginal canal, urethra, bladder etc.. that I myself would doubt that would irritate the vulvar tissue at all and have very little discharge (if any). On the other hand it'd be less likely to be specific for the vulvar area though and focus more on the internal part. So it depends on the condition or area you're treating. If you are menopausal, I wouldn't hesitate to use the EString as the estrogen is likely needed intravaginally. (or the Vagifem) If you are menopausal 'and' have vulvar skin issues. I'd still use that small dab of Estrace externally probably twice a week even with the Estring. If you're not menopausal I've seen the E string given out to those younger who really needed tissue restructuring and it worked quite well, but generally there is physician reluctance to that because of age. But the topical in a pre-menopausal women to me, works just as well and generally not very systemic. But either would work, mainly because the E string is so low in potency vs. the topical, but similiar in end point since so little of the topical is used. (DUH, does that sound confusing? LOL sorry) . I wish there was a 'recipe' or exact formula, but each situation is so different. One may be extremely abraded or excoriated so much less would be used till things started to heal. If a condition isn't too bad, then nightly would be ok. If things are going fine and getting better and better, it's time to taper back to a maintenance dosage... so you can see how each person may need to use it differently as well as inside vs. outside. So I sort of doubt the estrogen from the E string would irritate you hon.... BUT....... I have heard of a few members where the appliance itself did... whether from the plastic or silicone or whatever it's made of, who knows? Plus if you've strong stomach muscles or have constipation where you strain a lot? You might force it out too. Good luck hon but if what you're doing is working... I'd probably stick with that. Plus if you've been using it 3 or 4 times a week for more than 3 weeks or so it might even be time to start tapering back already. *smile* (depends on the progress tho). Hugs and just my $.02 cents worth. *grin*. Dee~ :

Guest guest
Hi Dee: Have to reread your answer when I am more awake. I use the E & T cream every night. Is that too much???? I am 50, but still get a period every month. Sherri

Guest guest
HI Sherri, Hon I can only tell you what I did and if the E & T, using it every night topically is working for you then yes I'd continue it but I myself used the T in a ratio of 3 to 1, with 3 nights of Estrace and on the 3rd night I added the T...(right on top of the E) & massaged both in, then went another 3 nights of E alone and added the T again. So I used a lot less T than you are. But I will preface that with I was just like many women initially and had heard of the side effects etc.. which half scared me to death *chuckle* so I was a bit leery too 'back then'!! But I had also used 'only' the Estrace cream for the first four months. Which did bring me back to healthy tissue as far as the tone color, stretchability etc... I mean the tissue 'looked' great but I was still a bit ouchy or tender, not quite to full health but almost there, at least to where I wasn't thinking of it 24/7 as I had been. So that was when I added the T for the next two months about every 3rd night to help strengthen and toughen up that new skin, which it did, and so by the end of a total of 6 months I was ready to 'go for broke' and test it out. *grin* I had been celebate for the previous 3 yrs (of a total of 10) and BOY was I ready to give it a good try. *grin*.... It was wonderful, but as scary as can be too. But it worked for me hon. I could hardly believe it and of course kept expecting the next day to be bad again so the psychological part took a little while to get overwith but it worked. Today knowing a 'lot' more, and not being afraid of the natural T they use today, I'd have probably used the T. more often than what I did initially and I do think using the E every night if someone can do that would help speed things along much faster than I was able to move. Since I was SO bad even with the E... it took me months before I could use that even once a night. But I sure stuck with it. *smile*~ So again we're just all at different stages or phases and you just have to go by your gut instincts sometimes hon. I would 'think' if you're using both nightly that you'd definitely have some improvement within 6 weeks. Not saying totally well but well on the way, but my gut still tells me I'd use a little less T for those 6 weeks too *smile*. I say that only because the T has to be somewhat systemic, since it generally does increase the libido if one used it that much for that length of time. (of course that's a good thing once you're well *smile*) And when things do feel pretty good is when "I" think one should taper back to a maintenance dosage. (Unless one is also using that form for HRT *which I take separately sublingually under the tongue with both E & T*) But for pure vulvar benefits, for me it's twice a week for both topically (just a small peasize) and works for me. Even if I do forget at times with just getting too doggone busy I have skipped a few weeks here & there but I can tell 'OH OH'' it's time... Hope that helps a bit hon and is what "I" did for what it's worth. You'll find your own comfortable niche I'm sure. Wishing you the very best hon... and hang in there. Patience & Persistance does it. Hugs Dee~
