Guest guest
Hollis, Yeah, I did get the ovaries removed. I was put on Premarin initially. I started to have problems last year around feb/march with hormones. I was put on that little pill you insert in your vagina. I cant remember the name, but I had a severe allergic reaction. After that they put me on a vaginal ring. I dont remember that name either lol My memory has gotten much worse. I couldnt stand the pain that the ring caused so I started to go through Pete and he started compounding. I ended up with only estradiol in a capsule and I became even allergic to that. What was happening is that I was allergic to hormones period. I did not have this problem before and I knew I better find out whats causing this becouse I cant go the rest of my life with hormones. I went to a allery dr. and he just tested me for pollin ect... I did research upon research and figured since I also had the Glabrata yeast problem in my mouth and vagina. I also have sores and the biopsy came back pityrosporum folliculitis which is a over growth of yeast in the hair follicule. I thought well I probably have systemic yeast becouse one of the symptoms was allergies and white blotches which I had. Well no drs. believed me. It wasnt till Dr. Metzger when I finally got my stool tested. Yep I had an over growth of glabrata in the intestines. After I started treatment for that I was able to compounded E and when I got a little better I could use Estrace. So I use the E & T topically along with Estrace vaginally a couple of times a week. Im also trying the atropin/ket/bio suppositories again since doing the Bv treatment. I also you the Baclofen/Elavil. I only have 1 vagina so I have to try and work all that in. Becouse of the suppositories I did get to a point in June and July where I could have and enjoy sex. I ended up with BV and it threw everything out of wack. Ive since been trying to get back to that place of being able to have and enjoy sex again. I still continued to have all my other pain, but that annoying burning and vaginal pain did go away for a couple of months. I do get Medicare and Medicade. Becouse Medicare picked up the prescription coverage im able to get my meds. through Pete covered. Prior to Jan. when medicade covered my prescription I had to pay for anything compounded or through Pete. I see Dr. Punch tomorrow and I'll ask her to add Estrogen in a pill form, but as far as getting my hormones checked im sure she will say no. She may not even give me Estrace and a E pill? I'll try to tell her, will see what happens. I do have 2 more apts. with 2 other obgyns I see incase one says no I go to the next lol If all 3 say no I dont know what I can do? I tried looking for a Lyme specialist in the yellow pages, but there isnt any/ Do you know what kind of dr. who would be a Lyme specialist like maybe a Allergy dr.? I called the 2 rheumatologist offices they had in the yellow pages. One didnt take my insurance and the other one said they dont give apt. till they give the dr. my problems and then they will call me back to tell me if he will take me as a patient or not. Can you believe that? I told them I wanted to be checked for fibromyalgia and I have arthritis in my knees, hips and elbow and I wanted to know what kind it is. It's spreading pretty fast. It started at the end of winter with one knee and it's just going from joint to joint. I'll let ya know what she says about the hormones when I get back tomorrow. Guest guest
Not much to add but just to add how much I also agree with Hollis & Dusty for you Tami needing systemic hormone replacement. Hope you fight and argue hon to be tested and to be put on some HRT replacement. (by the way not only the E but T as well since being on E alone further depletes the testosterone). Good luck Tami Dee~
Guest guest
Maybe Tami, if the doc balks, you should repeat that you have no ovaries and a no uterus and you have been without systemic estrogen since (since when – shortly after your surgery or whenever?). Ask the doc what possible concerns he/she could have for testing and then prescribing systemic estrogen replacement for your (pills, patches or troches- which are under the tongue thingy’s that melt there) are what you are interested in. Once you listen to the docs concerns – if you still want the systemic estrogen then tell the doc that you are willing to ACCEPT the risks in order to see if you can get well enough to live a healthy happy life. Guest guest
HI Everyone... Maybe we need to back up a bit with Tami and her systemic hormones (myself included) *smile* HI Hon.... after seeing you write this... ''After I started treatment for that I was able to compounded E and when I got a little better I could use Estrace. So I use the E & T topically along with Estrace vaginally a couple of times a week.'' So it DOES seem you are using Estrace 'systemically' hon. By using it inside of the vagina twice a week is exactly what would be prescribed for someone who wanted to use it systemically for their HRT replacement as well as for the vulvar area. In fact using the E cream that way *intravaginally* is probably a bit more potent than the pills, or oral (depending on strength) but far less than the patch or Estring or even the Vagifem. So my deepest apologys' hon.. I thought like some others that you were only using it topically. That should be enough for you. But as I've also mentioned I would consider adding the T too systemically, and even that can be used on the arms and legs for systemic absorption or sublingual form. BUT If you are not on that intravaginal E use now? .. I stick to the original thought hon with how you definitely need something for your whole body. *smile*.. Hang in there hugs Dee~

Ah, the eagle-eyed Dee strikes again! I missed that, forgetting that Estrace does work systemically. . . . But, Tami, you still need to get your levels tested so you know if they're sufficient! Guest guest
Ditto to Dee and Hollis and to repeat that a 35 yr old woman with no uterus and no ovaries should be tested at a minimum, once a year. My 42 yr old neighbor – same scenario. She uses Troches (under the tongue) and she is tested every 6 months and sooner if there is a problem perceived by her. Guest guest
Hello, I forgot to tell Dee in my last post that along with the E & T Topically compounded through Pete I also use Estrace vaginally. I did get oral Estrodial 0.5% along with the topical and vaginal. She didnt give me the script to get my levels tested. She said they where already tested and im fine. When I come back in 3 months after being on the oral she will test my levels than. Hek, im surprised she added oral E lol I really didnt think I'd get it *smile* Thanks ladies for all your posts. I think it did help me get the oral E. Im wondering though if it's too much? Guest guest
Dusty, Im working my way down the emails *smile* I wanted to tell you that I did clear up that bout of B.V and im back on the suppositories and im burn free again. I knew something was wrong when I quit responding. Im currently waiting to see a Lyme specialist at the end of the month. In the mean time I asked my family care Dr. to please start me on treatment for the Lyme. I got Doxy. and I was able to take a day and a half worth and I got 2 good days relief ( symptoms lessened). I had severe acid reflux though and abdominal pain from it so I couldnt continue. I asked my family care dr. to call me in something else because I wanted to see if im truely responding to the antibiotic or was it just a coincidence. He called me in Amoxicillin and Ive been on it a few days and im comfortable. He still deny's I have Lyme and says maybe I responded to the antibiotic because I have I.C I was tested 5 years ago, I know I could have gotten it since then, but all my symptoms are managable with my pain meds. Prior I was suffering terrible now Ive been running from morning till night catching up on house work, school shopping, and arons and im comfortable. I do have chronic low back, low abdomin, right leg, right arm pain. My knees have some type of arthritis in the last year and those are bothersome, but Im comfortable. I cant see I.C effecting all that. When I see this Lyme specialist im going to get another test, but in the mean time im comfortable. Oh Yeah the hormones? I really dont notice anything yet. Ive only been responding to the antibiotic and those suppositories. Thanks for your concern and I will talk to you soon my friend. Guest guest
I'm really glad you are feeling some relief Tami. That's a good thing. But, How do you know it isn't the hormones making you feel better and not the antibiotic? Plenty of energy is a sign of increased estrogen availability. When I started using estrogen, it was the very first benefit I noticed - increased energy. Whatever it is - its a good thing Regards Dusty -----Original Message-----From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of Tami SchneiderSent: Sunday, September 10, 2006 12:33 AMTo: VulvarDisorders Subject: RE: for Tami re: hormone levels Dusty,Im working my way down the emails *smile* Iwanted to tell you that I did clear up that bout ofB.V and im back on the suppositories and im burn freeagain.
