Guest guest
Hi !! Our sons Neuro and Geneticist have both commented on how many of they're patients with Mito have blonde hair and big blue eyes!! Guest guest
Hey guys....this is interesting :-) Wondering what the incidence of blue eyes is in the general population?? I have hazel (brown/dark green) and DH has dark brown eyes, but all three kids have blue. We have maybe 2 relatives with blue eyes going back a few generations, and other than brown, green would be the second most prevelant. We don't have the blond hair here though....Chance is brown and the girls are both red heads (DH and I are both dark haired). They are very pretty too.....but then, I might be partial....LOL. BIG hugs, Kass Britchick0074@... wrote: Hi !! Our sons Neuro and Geneticist have both commented on how many of they're patients with Mito have blonde hair and big blue eyes!! Guest guest
Hey all, I wish I had a few days to just post, there is so much I want to say/think about that I would like to share. Also, have where individuals have posted to me in the past, but I haven't had the time to write like I want too. So, if you've written to me, please forgive me if I haven't responded back with a thank you or such. Sue, your one, that I hope to be in touch with in the near future. :-) Enough of that, so here is a quick request----I don't want to shadow the comments of the beautiful blue eyes, my daughter, Cassie, has beautiful blue eyes, as well. When she was little, they were so dark in the iris, that it was hard to tell the pupil from the iris. And I feel she is a beautiful child, as well. :-) But I was wondering if anyone was told that their child has blue sclera of the eye? This is where the white of the eye is a slight blue tint. My understanding is--that it is a characteristic of a syndrome or such. Just curious-- Thanks Re: Blue eyes Mikey and Kayla both have mito diagnosis......... Guest guest
, My son has that blue tint on the outer parts of the whites. It's almost a perfect blue circle around each eye. I have asked alot of my friends, do you see this? And they look at me like I have just completly lost it. I see it and it stays blood shot just to that point of where it is darker at and sometimes the red streaks shoot across the middle. I am happy to hear from somebody that can see the same things as I do. I havent been told by a dr. about sclera though. My son has coritical blindness. Just recently found this out, and I asked about it and he seems to think that the red streaks was because he doesnt know to blink his eyes as much and that they are probably just dry. Well, I wish you well. Take Care and God Bless, Kim "RALPH KEOGH JR," wrote: Hey all, I wish I had a few days to just post, there is so much I want to say/think about that I would like to share. Guest guest
Sorry .... been a little slow in responding to this one but .... there is a syndrome called Waardenburg Syndrome, which can have CLEAR blue eyes or blue wedges in an iris of another colour or different colour eyes as part of its presentation. Other features include: hearing impairment or deafness usually bilateral white forelocks in the hair Pigmentary changes in the skin Midface changes Ptosis Clefting in the lip or palate limb changes Hirschprung's mega colon This syndrome is autosomal dominant (nuclear inheritance) with variable penetrance (not necessarily all features show up). My family has it and I know of at least two other Mito families with it. I am trying to find out if there is a relationship between Mito and Waardenburg Syndrome. Could one form of Mito inheritance "piggy back" on this nuclear dominant syndrome? Three types of this Syndrome have been identified, with (as far as I know) only Type 1 being identified as chrom.#: 2q35 Reference: <http://www.icondata.com/health/pedbase/files/WAARDENB.HTM> Jean Britchick0074@... wrote: Hi !! Guest guest
Sorry .... been a little slow in responding to this one but .... there is a syndrome called Waardenburg Syndrome, which can have CLEAR blue eyes or blue wedges in an iris of another colour or different colour eyes as part of its presentation. Guest guest
Sorry if this casts doubt on your hypothesis, but I have blue eyes and has brown eyes! He is cute though. Despite the fact that he has some technically dysmorphic features, we are frequently told that he is "pretty" and is mistaken for a girl. Guest guest
Hi I may be using poor terminology/wording in explaining what I'm trying to say. I guess another way to put it, when the geneticists looked Cassie over and documented all that they noted, one of the comments or characteristics (of whatever syndrome) she has was blue sclera of the eyes (basicly the white of the eyes have a light blue tint.) Does this change your understanding of where I'm coming from? Thanks Re: Blue eyes Mikey and Kayla both have mito diagnosis......... Guest guest
More blue eyes here! My Ronan has blue eyes and curly blonde hair. Many people comment on how cute he is (as you probably know I am a bit biased). My hubby has very dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Only one of our four children has brown hair, but two have blue eyes. I have blue eyes and curly blonde hair as well, but none of my four brothers and sisters have blue eyes. Who knows. Take Care,
Guest guest
Hi Deb Sorry can't help you much on the greyish blue flecks. I do have a friend that has lost her sight to the retina pigmentosis. My understanding was that the problem lies with the retina. Let us know what you found out at the doctor. :-) Re: Blue eyes But I was wondering if anyone was told that their child has blue sclera of the eye? This is where the white of the eye is a slight blue tint. My understanding is--that it is a characteristic of a syndrome or such.Just curious--well, my child is black so we don't have blue eyes...that WOULD be unusual...lol... bu t this tinting is an interesting thing...andrew has these very obvious grayish blue flecks on the whites of his eyes...I can't remember what they said about them but that sound familar too...we see the eye doctor again tomorrow so I will try to remember asking her...I read somewhere that retinitis pigmentosa was a salt and pepper thing...so I thought that wuld be on the whites but I guess it is in the iris and only a doc can see it? is taht right?deb Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
