It's 17 g of whey protein and either 0 or 1 of sugar as I recall. Seems like a good choice to me, if you can get in enough protein from other sources. Guest guest
The whey blast is ok.. just too much volume for me.. I have a hard time drinking that much protein at one time.. I am much happier with the 4 oz shakes I make from powder. Guest guest
I would recommend you do the powdered drinks so you can make up a 4 oz shake. If it takes you all day to get in two shakes of Designer Blast, then perhaps the volume is too much for you (24 ounces?). Try ProScore or Pure Whey stack as you can mix them with 4 oz. I also saw that TwinLabs' container says 2 oz.

Sharon Protein drinks Is Designer Whey Protein Blast Drink a good source of protein? When I get off TPN, hopefully Nov. 5, I have to find a way to get at least 60 grams of protein a day. I have a problem tolerating protein, either in mixes or regular food. I can drink Blast but it takes me all day to drink 2. Any info would be appreciated. Guest guest
Unfortunately, shakes you liked before surgery may not taste the same after surgery, so there is really no way to tell your favorites until you are post-op. Slim Fast is a no-no in the program I went through. Atkins was not one of the kinds listed as approved, I think because it has too much fat. The only kind I still like after surgery is Designer Whey, but everyone is different. Sometimes one you hated pre-op will taste perfect post-op. The guideline I was given by my program was to get a protein powder with these qualities: 55 grams of protein 5 grams or less of sugar 3 grams or less of fat Some brand names I was given: Pro Rated (at Costco) Pro Complex at _http://www.optimumnutrition.com_ (http://www.optimumnutrition.com) Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein _www.gnc.com_ (http://www.gnc.com) Isopure Powder- Zero or Low Carb _www.naturesbest.com_ (http://www.naturesbest.com) Unjury Whey Protein _www.unjury.com_ (http://www.unjury.com) 100% Whey Protein _http://www.optimumnutrition.com_ (http://www.optimumnutrition.com/) All the Whey Isolate _www.allthewhey.com_ (http://www.allthewhey.com) Precision Protein (EAS) _www.eas.com_ (http://www.eas.com) Designer Whey _www.designerwhey.com_ (http://www.designerwhey.com) Dana 326/262/150 RnY lap 7-10-06 Kaiser SSF, Dr. Li In a message dated 7/22/2006 11:12:35 AM Pacific Standard Time, almaule202@... writes: To provide feedback to the post put in about protein drinks. I have tried many of them, so that when my times comes that i MUST have them, I know just what I like. I have found that Atkins has the best protein shakes. They are less sugar and more protein than Slim Fast and they have a much better taste. I put mine in the freezer for a bit, so it gets real cold and a bit icy. Very, Very tasty! And by the way, 40 days and counting until my surgery! I can hardly wait!!!!!!!!w Audrey
Guest guest
My nutritionist also said no to Atkins products because they are high in calories. They may be low/no sugar and low fat, but they still are high in calories. I like many of the products I have found at bariactriceating.com, except the New Whey protein 2.9 oz vials in Blue Raspberry and Fruit Punch flavors. Those were absolutely awful tasting and they smelled just as bad! And, as said " shakes you liked before surgery may not taste the same after surgery. " I had found one before surgery that I really liked, but after surgery it totally repulsed me. I just wish I hadn't bought the big canister of it...what a waste of money. in Virginia 299/248/150 Lap RNY: 5/3/06 Re: Protein drinks Unfortunately, shakes you liked before surgery may not taste the same after surgery, so there is really no way to tell your favorites until you are post-op.
