Angi,

Welcome to the Group.....even though it is a terrible way and reason to be meeting....

Your husband sounds like he is a wonderful man.....

Mine does a lot of the stuff around the house himself......with some help from our 9 yr old daughter. He does sometimes forget that I can't do much on some days, and does get a touch of Male PMS.....but other wise, he does try. That's all we CAN expect from a spouse that doesn't have RSD......for them to understand the best that they can.

Only us can really know, since it is us that is suffering.....

A little about me...

I'll be 30 in 5 weeks (ugh!), I've been married for going on 7 years but have been with him for going on 15 years, and we have 3 children together.....Sami who's 9, Crystal who is 4 and my precious baby boy Petey who is 16 months old.

I was hurt 10-11-2000, 3 days before Crystal's 1st birthday, by a car bumper hitting me in the back of the right knee while I was flagging for Road Construction. I battled for 3 years against W/C, 2 lawyers.....which both was paid off by W/C.......and ended up with a Measly $15,000 and no medical. I actually got $25,000, but the lawyer decided that even though I was the one that got everything for him, that he was owed $10,000.

What started in the right knee has spread thru-out the 4 years....

it's in my Right leg/foot/hip, full upper body.....both hands, arms and shoulders.....left foot, my whole back and internally in my abdomen.

And, because of the RSD, I have also been dx'd with Fibromyalgia, Migraines, Cluster Headaches, Anxiety Attacks, GERD, IBS and a Mild Protrusion of the L1-L2 disc space that I was told that a small shove or the like could make it worse.

You have came to the Perfect Group to learn, get all of the info you need, to yell, scream, laugh, cry......whatever y ou need to do that day.

The biggest rule is You CANNOT say the "s" word....which is "sorry". that is the Main rule.....

Another rule is, no religious postings.....you can say that you'll pray for someone, ask for prayers.......but you can't post anything that resembles a prayer or talk about Religion in the Group. You Can do that in Private Emails though......which there are quite a few members here that will let you know who they are that does like to talk religion.

Hope that you will enjoy this group as much as the rest of us do!

Tonia

Welcome to the group Angi!!! My name is Lin. I live in Oregon.

Sounds like you have had your share of problems with doctors that I have had. Also I know there are a lot here that have had their battles with WC.

This is a great group for help, support and caring.

Welcome again.

Hi Becky,

Welcome to the group. We are especially good at helping with anger and all that personal stuff that encompasses getting RSD. That is one reason this list exists.

We have a chat every weekday morning at 910 AM Eastern time. It is on AOL IM which is free even if you don't have AOL. You have to let me know what name you have chosen to use and then when I start the chat if you are signed on I will send you an invitation. I only start the chat if there are three people signed on. Some days we have a bunch of people and other days no one but usually there are enough to start the chat up.

Hope you will come in and join us there too.

Hi Tom. My husband has Type 2 and his meds don't seem to be touching

it. He may end up on insulin, too. I'd be curious to know how your BS

numbers react since you've started insulin. Also your energy level. My

husband doesn't have much energy.

shoot for? Should we be trying to go lower?

My goal is to have my A1c 6 or below because I do not want to go back on

meds. I only get tested once a year.

June 2002 - A1c was 5.93

June 2003 - A1c was 5.22

June 2004 - A1c was 5.08

Some people have an easier time controlling diabetes than others. Your goal

should be what you feel comfortable with and what is satisfactory with your

doctor.

I keep my A1c Below 6 It has been 5.4 and 5.6 for a while now...

Though remember, only your doctor is the one that can tell you what your

" goal " is. some people cannot get it down that low, even with meds.

Dr put

> me on 500mg metforminXR (LOVE those side effects!!)

hi geof,

remember, no one ever promised you when you were born it would be

easy!!

welcome to the wonderful world of diabetes, i wish you all the good

luck in the world.

on the issue of metformin, like you, i had some terrible issues with

metformin, especially with digestive discomfort, to a pont where i

was totally miserable and in pain. it seems the problems with

metformin are well documented and if they are just too much for you

you should discuss this with your doctor, there are alternatives that

are not as bad as metformin, but my doctors told me there are some

worse ones. i dread to think what they are like!!

don't suffer on in silence, if your meds are really making you ill,

life will just become unbearable for you, and you have enough to deal

with.

kindest regards,

bobby

anything i say is just my unqualified opinion. if you are unwell

please get a qualified opinion.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Went to the doc this morning, told her

that the GI distress wasn't anything I couldn't handle. Rather than

up the metformin she put me on glucovance instead.

.. Alot of us also get

our

yep, that's exactly what she did - bp & cholestorol meds too. Now

I'm really determined to loose that 50 lbs & hopefully get to the

point where I can control this thing with diet & exercise. I've

never liked taking drugs, I'm the sort who'll suffer through a

headache or a cold rather than ingest a chemical. Major lifestyle

changes ahead.

For those struggling with the cigs - it's possible!!!. Three

months ago I bummed one from a co-worker and he said go ahead & take

it it's my last one anyways. I decided to quit with him. Just did

it as a personal thing, didn't even tell my wife - took her almost

three weeks to notice. Quitting sweets has been another struggle

entirely!

Welcome to the group. Congrats on your son. I love hearing success

stories followed by healthy babies. I am 2 months out and hope to

have another child in my future. Good luck on WL.
