Guest guest
I was diagnosed with lupus and then, later, another doctor told me it might be Lyme. I had the Western Blot test done and it was borderline. So, he started me on antibiotics. But the protocol was quite different than Dr. Brown's. The lyme doc (a family practitioner who became a Lyme expert after treating many Walnut farming Lyme patients in the Ozarks, where the Lyme tic loves the Walnut trees)) would give me various antibiotics -- but only for 4-6 weeks and then switch to another. He included doxycicline (minocin not being good in cases of lupus) and Zithromax, but I didn't respond to them. I finally told him if he'd just keep me on doxy, I thought I'd respond because I had before (I was on doxy about 4 or 5 years ago and after about 4 months, I noticed a difference. But then, after a few more months, my doctor retired and I couldn't get another one to prescribe doxy. I have recently moved to AZ and can now get it in Mexico with ease so I am starting again.) I am really convinced that there is an underlying infection in lupus. One drug that you are traditionally treated with is Plaquenil, which is an antimalarial. All the literature says they don't know why it works (they discovered that it helps accidentally). Interestingly, doxy is also an antimalarial. I am not, of course, saying that lupus is related to malaria -- only that I believe whatever it is, it sometimes responds to the same drugs as malaria does. BTW, the lyme doc I went to also believed that there were other infectious agents causing supposedly autoimmune diseases and fms and was familiar with Dr. Brown's work. Guest guest
Phil, Although the Minocin will help with Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent for Lyme Disease it is important that she be checked for the multiple other CO-infections that come in with a Tick Bite. A Lyme Literate doctor would be in order. Contact me by my personal email if you would like to talk further regarding this situation. I am well versed in this area. She started on Minocin MWF 100 mg twice a day in October. Recently I asked the doctor to do a Lyme test and the Igenex western blot test was positive. Now I wonder what she should do for that. We also live in Arizona in Mesa. I believe she might have gotton bit by a tick in the Mormon Lake area in June of 2005. I would very much like to know your experience with this problem. Guest guest
Phil: My name is , and I've been diagnosed with: idiopathic thrombocytopenia (had my spleen removed because of it), fibro, lupus, R.A., and Lyme. My thoughts are that every diagnosis was related to the last diagnosis of Lyme. I respond to antibiotics, but I think I need more aggressive treatment. I've had many surgeries due to deformities over the years and wish I had been diagnosed with Lyme much, much earlier. Good blessings to you and your wife. The road for these diseases is a long one. Guest guest
Yes, Phil, arthritis can mimic Lyme Disease. LD mimics over 300 debilitating, chronic diseases - " Look at this very abbreviated list of over 300 medical conditions associated with this new spirochete scourge: ALS; Alzheimer's disease; Parkinson's disease; MS; almost any inflammatory or degenerative central, autonomic, and peripheral neurological disturbance; Bell's Palsy; reflex sympathetic dystrophy and other peripheral neuropathies; psychological and psychiatric disturbances of all kinds, including schizophrenia; chronic fatigue; arthritis; fibrositis; fibromyalgia; muscle fatigue; rashes; coronary artery disease; heart failure; rhythm disturbances; autoimmune diseases; scleroderma; irritable bowel syndrome; Lupus; sudden deafness; eye inflammation; fetal death; SIDS; ADD and hyperactivity; chronic pain; and much, much more. " from November 2003 Second Opinion newsletter published by J. Rowan, M.D. LD can be very difficult to treat. Here is a website with the story of Sue Massie. Her battle with LD was mentioned in the above noted newsletter. Her entire family had Lyme Disease and they used antibiotics, herbs, supplements, and electromagnetic frequency to put it in remission. Detoxing the body is very important. Sue now counsels other LD sufferers to help them reach remission. suemassie45@... http://www.springboard4health.com/notebook/health_lyme_disease.html There are several support groups where you can get more information such as lyme-and-rife@... Guest guest
Carol , Thank you, Thank you, for your email. You are a God send. The Western Blot test came back positive for IGM and negative for IGG. The 31 kDa band had ++, The 39 and 41kDa bands had + , and the 83-93kDa band was Inderminate. There is another page that talks about Microti antibody and Human monocytic IgM and IgG. If you could shed any light on these it would be greatly appreciated. We have our third visit with Dr. Franco January 17th. We havn't discussed about Lyme with him since it was just diagnosed. If you know the names of some Lyme literate doctors, that would be great. We would be grateful in case Dr. Franco is not that well versed in it.We live in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Re: rheumatic Re: Can arthritis be Lyme Disease?
