Guest guest
Hi Tammie, After 2 years of excruciating pain, I was diagnosed with R/A & Scleroderma. Your job now is to find a competent Rheumatologist that will prescribe antibiotic protocol. It's called A/P. Also buy the books, " Arthritis Breakthrough " by Henry Scammell and " The Roadback ( Rheumatoid Arthritis- It's cause and it's treatment) by McPherson Brown, M.D. and Henry Scammell. This will explain everything to you. You can get these books new or used thru Amazon.com. They are not expersive. Whatever you do, don't let anyone put you on steroids like prednisone, methotrexate, Humira, Remicade, thalidomide or Plaquenil. Or anything else. I am into my seventh month of taking Minocin. And I am like a new person. I'm getting my life back. There are many testimonies of achieving a remission. After that there is the cure. It will take several years on the therapy, but it works and well worth it. If you have difficulty finding an A/P doc in your area, go to Roadback.org, read the rules and hit the " I agree " sign. We are not allowed to mention doctors by name on the site, but if you post, ask for Richie, type in your email address and he will answer you himself. He has a roster full of names for the entire USA and maybe the world. I don't know. But that's how I found my doc. His name if Dr. Trentham. He is Chief of Rheumatology at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital on the Harvard Campus in Boston. I see him twice a year and he writes my scripts for Minocin. Minocin is a tetracycline based medication that they have been prescribing for teenage acne for 40 years. The only side effect I have is that my skin has gotten darker. This also may be due to the scleroderma. Read the posts from the Roadback.org site. Good luck and keep us in touch with your progress. I am a retired nurse. I retired after 40 yrs. of nursing and I knew better than to take those drugs they offered me. Needless to say, I was not popular with the docs. But it is my life and I'm in charge and I want to enjoy the rest of my life. my e-mail address is martysfolks2004@.... Feel free to email me anytime with any question. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, This is Dolores again. In a way it is good that you will be coming on your own. Do you still have the original appt. with Dr. Trentham. I see him twice a year and he writes my script for 90 days with 3 renewals. He will tell you that you need to be off all the other antinflammatory and steroid drugs as they work against the Minocin. He will write you scripts for the Mino. To allow Mino to do it's job, you must take it 2 hrs before eating and 2 hrs. after meals. I usually put mine in my mouth when I wake up to go to the bathroom and then lay down for two hours, then have breakfast. At night, I check the clock as to when I finished eating dinner and then start counting the two hours after. I only eat two meals a day, so I don't have a problem. I use to be a picker, eating something all day long. I could also lose the poundage. I have gained too much weight once I got my gut to behave. Take care and give me a ring on my house phone when you know when you know your definite appointment. Dr. T. will also tell you that you have to increase your Mino to 200mg. / day. I take 100mg in the a.m. And take 100mg in the p.m. Here's my tentative schedule for August. I'm working th 27th, 28th and 29th. We are also scheduled to be in a Crowe, Denzel Washington movie. Dates to be announced. You can come along with us. It is a full length movie. Also, my daughter wants me to help her get a patient set up in her apartment, next week. They are in Florida right now and , my daughter will be accompanying the patient to New York next week. No matter what we are doing, you are always welcome to stay here for the length of your stay. Mike & I are involved with a lot of activities, so sometimes we have to run, but we are never gone for long. We are very sociable and you may get to meet most of our friends one way or another. So, hurry up kid, I can't wait to meet you. Don't bring too much luggage. Our space is tight and any leftover stuff gets stored in the back of our mini station wagon. Besides, New York is a mecca for shopping. We have the greatest prices from what I have seen in other places. Most tourists come here to shop. Take care~~~~~~~Love, Dolores lynn steblecki <lynnsteblecki@...> wrote: Hi Dolores just a quickie to say hi and will bck to normal this week. Guest guest
Please go to any library or book store and get copies of any Henry Scammels books that you can find. " The Arthritis Breakthrough " I think was his last one. It worked for me in spite of my rheumatologist telling me it would not. Guest guest
Yeah!, I second the motion! Read all the books by Henry Scammell and Dr. MacPherson Brown. If they don't carry it in the library, you can get them cheap, new or used at Amazon.com. I did and it was the best thing I did besides going on A/P.~~~Dolores MRSROSE2000@... wrote: Please go to any library or book store and get copies of any Henry Scammels books that you can find.
