Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I don't know that depression is related to chiari, but it makes sense to me that we get depressed because of chronic pain and illness. Unfortunately many of us seem to feel better for a few months and then something happens that starts the return of symptoms. This can be to several things such as a dura leak and buildup of scar tissue. Hope this helps soemwhat, Cherry [alabama] ----- Original Message ----- been doing > splendidly until about a month ago. Guest guest
My psychologist tells me that I have an appropriate level of depression for my physical state. When our bodies are sick, our minds can't hold out forever in a state of perfect health. Guest guest
Ruth, Those exact words are what the first nsg I saw told me. That some people have ACM all their lives and would not know it other than a chance finding like your son's. The only reason I was told I needed surgery was for the horrible symptoms I've experienced. I think that any good nsg will tell you it is better to leave well enough alone. I am praying for your son's continued freedom from suffering in this matter. Sincerely, Cheryl Sousa a question > Is it possible to have ACM and lead a normal healthy life with out any of > theses thing happen that all of you are talking about ??? my son is 12 and > they are saying they just happened to find this with the Mri they gave him > and say its nothing to worry about... they said he will have an Mri every 6 > mos to make sure everything stays the same???? can any one anserw this > question > Ruth > > >

I have had Chiari since birth which I am 18 now and have been fine.Although I am in a wheelchair because of Spina Bifida, but I live a normal life.My Chiari is 17mm, so it is kinda bad, but it hasn't bothered me until just lately, but I'm not doing surgery right now. Guest guest
Hi Ruth and Gang, If this is just a by chance find (If it were my child) I would consult with a NS or another NS. This happened to my 5 year old (we had her checked when I found out I had it - to confirm it was not congenatial <long story- some other time maybe>) My NS (Rosner) said she had it and recommended we see a Pedi NS ... so we did. She did not even have any kind of malformation. She was absolutely fine. So I would consult someone else. Just to be safe. From what I understand (from my Bro-in-law - a dr of Pathologology) people go thru life without symptoms and die and never know they have anything wrong with them. They can life very healthy, very productive and busy lives. (with no problems) in SC --- PackerGalForReal@... wrote: > Is it possible to have ACM and lead a normal > healthy life with out any of > theses thing happen that all of you are talking > about ??? my son is 12 and > they are saying they just happened to find this with > the Mri they gave him > and say its nothing to worry about... they said he > will have an Mri every 6 > mos to make sure everything stays the same???? can > any one anserw this > question > Ruth > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been > removed] > > > Help section: http://www.yahoogroups.com/help/ > > NOTE: NCC refers to posts with No Chiari Content > > To Unsubscribe Yourself: > chiari-unsubscribeYahoogroups > > WACMA Home: www.pressenter.com/~wacma > > WACMA List: www.eGroups.com/group/chiari > > >
Guest guest
I had Chiari and BI all my life ....I was diagnosed at 39 almost by chance....no real symptoms. Life was good before and will be good as soon as I finish recovering...... A nurse asked me today how I was and I responded: " well, lighter without the halo but really tired of braces and wanting my life back " her eyes grew two sizes bigger and she said: " Alba, you are walking, you are alive " One forgets how bad it could have been .....in the waiting room there were so many patients with walker, wheel chair, with tremors ....I know I am lucky but I guess not having had symptoms has made the whole thing look a bit different No complains...I AM GRATEFUL Alba Re: a question In a message dated 1/9/2002 3:11:21 PM Eastern Standard Time, PackerGalForReal@... writes: > Is it possible to have ACM and lead a normal healthy life with out any of > theses thing happen that all of you are talking about ???
