A long time ago, when I was first diagnosed, I tried Metformin XR. I was

miserable.

Belching, farting, stomach gurgling - you name it. I was in distress!

Tomorrow I start with AvandiaMet 4/500, 2x a day.

Here's to hoping the problem's not so severe as it was with 1000mg of Metformin

XR!

Did you mean Metformin ER, or regular Metformin? I think the largest

dose of the extended release is 750 mg.

The extended release, and I'm fairly certain I was taking 2 500mg

tablets.

After switching to metformin extended release in May, I have gotten

both generic and Glucophage in the 750 mg strength. I found

confirmation on http://www.fda.gov/cder/ogd/approvals/ap0405.htm
