zakity--uh oh! Your (good) questions are gonna force me to bring up a topic

that this group has already THOROUGHLY discussed!! I'm just joking, zakity. We

have touched on this, but a reminder is always in order. As our resident sex

maniac recently reported (hey, that's Rhonda, in case you mistakenly thought

otherwise), orgasms really help with cramps, plus, according to Rhonda's latest

field work (she is MmeCurie, after all), they also help to expel the blood.

Rhonda, by the way, recommends self-induced orgasms (in the sex discussion group

the use of euphemisms will be thoroughly discussed and debated) first thing in

the morning! Can you imagine! First thing in the morning, before you even get

out of bed! But, yes, that's what Dr. Rhonda, the mad sex maniac scientist

madame, has found to be most beneficial for starting one's day.

Poor Rhonda. She is just so much fun to pick on. However, I completely endorse

Rhonda's findings due to countless years of my own independent research on said

subject. I " m sure others on this list can also attest to these findings,

however anecdotal they may be.

If, however, you are pressed for time, try using naproxen or even ibuprofen for

cramps. These also can cut down your bleeding, and I was told by a doc to start

taking them 7 days before my period, which I think works.

Yes, I happen to think that stress impacts fibroids, and I think others on this

list agree. I don't believe there is any data on this though--no surprise

there! Sometimes it hard to know just how stressed out we really are. We get

so used to operating at a certain level of stress tolerance that we don't think

of it as stress any more--just as our lives. For instance, my husband recently

retired from a job that entailed alot of responsibililty and oversight of staff,

policy, investigations that affected real people's lives, etc. You could say it

was a stressful job, though not because of bad bosses or work conditions, just

because alot had to be handled and handled well. Not to mention that said

husband had set high standards for himself. Once he had retired and slowed

down, and only then, was he able to see (and admit) how stressed he had been for

a very long time. He frequently says that he doesn't know how he did it for so

long!

So, it's pretty hard to isolate the stress unless you have a very new and

unusual stressor in your life like a job change, moving, a death, a divorce,

etc. But if you think you are being impacted by stress, whatever you can do to

get rid of it would be a good thing, wouldn't it? It can't hurt. Anyway,

zakity, welcome to the group!

Cat--welcome to the group! Lots of support here and tons of info, especially if

you consult the wealth of previous posts in the archives. Do a search for San

Fran in the subject--there have been several women in the Bay Area who have been

looking into good docs in the area. Also, here is a website for one of those

docs with some good explanations of myomectomy procedures. I do not have

personal experience with any of these docs, by the way. Your best bet is to

spend some serious time reading previous posts. Have you spoken with your doc

about your pain? What does s/he say?

http://www.myomectomy.net/hysteroscopic_myomectomy.htm Good luck, keep

researching, keep asking questions, keep posting to this list.

Donna--oy yoy yoy, Donna! Feet all the way up in the air? Like over your head,

not just kind of elevated? Cuz, if just elevated would work, like propped on a

zillion pillows, you could substitute a chaise lounge kind of thing for your

usual computer chair, get an extension cord for your keyboard, and jigger

something up like that. Or see if you can put your legs on your computer desk

while you are in the chaise lounge. Or maybe get one of those rolling

adjustable tables that could swing over your bed? Maybe you could adjust it up

high and swing your legs over it and have your computer on it? Sounds like a

pain in the ass, doesn't it? But if you keep tweaking it you may just come up

with a great solution. Right now I'm sitting on one of those exercise balls and

not only is my butt killing me but that incredibly painful neck thing I always

get is kicking in...good luck...hope you feel better soon.

Yo Rhonda!---you told Donna to get moving, walking, swiming, running, but you

forgot to mention you know what! Is this a distinction you are making or just

an accidental omission? Inquiring minds NEED to know. Also, I like your mom!

Lucky you!
