Guest guest
I run two yahoogroups, comandline and mathreference, and I was getting more and more spam/crap on my lists. A computer program can easily scan through the groups, sign up using a free email account, post its spam message, and leave town, only to create a new free email account tomorrow and do it all over again. And it's all automated. (Yes, I am a programmer by profession.) There is a nice defense however. You can set your yahoo group to monitor the first post from each user. If you (the owner of the group) accept the first post, other posts from that user are then accepted. Minimal work for you, and it seems to do the trick. I don't remember exactly which buttons to push on which panel, but if you look around you'll probably run into it, or I can try to outline the procedure further.
