Guest guest
Ginny, It is nice to meet you, welcome to the group. I'm sure you will find some great advice, understanding and comfort here. What have your doctors suggested for treatment, aside from physical therapy? Did anything happen to start the RSD - any type of injury? Did it just start 3 weeks ago or have you had it and they finally dx'd it? It certainly seems that you have your hands full between your kids and you - do you have alot of family support? Sorry for the 20 questions, just trying to get an idea of where you stand with things so we can make better suggestions. Where are you located? Well I'll stop with the questions now...lol...I look forward to knowing you better. <hugs> Lori
Guest guest
Hasn't been easy managing the house and the kids lately. I used to barely manage but now if is almost impossible. I just contacted my local autism center and asked for respite..but because of budget problems I don't think they will be able to supply one. Just keeping my fingers crossed and taking it one day at a time right now. Thanks for the welcome....Ginny"lroepke@..." wrote: Welcome Ginny,How do you manage with the little ones? I would be exhausted. Mine have grown up and have grandchildren. Much easier.I Laurie. Have had RSD for 8 years before diagnosis. Now it's just a matter of controlling the pain. If you are diagnosed early thats great for you sooner you get trmt. you can put this monster in remisssion.Welcome again. Also I get up many nights but don't know how to chat. Guest guest
I am lucky that my son goes to school all year round but sometimes getting him off to school in the morning is almost too hard to do. He is home around 3pm everyday and that's when I really have to start my day with him. I have apllied to get respite...but I am not sure if I will get it. My daughter helps out as much as she can. I have 2 wonderful supportive freinds but they work and have their own families to tend to. So right now I don't have much help with him..but I am lucky he is a good kid and understands that I am hurting.BARBARA TORREY wrote: Ginny - Welcome to the group. Boy you sure have your hands full. Do you have support to help you with the kids....especially your son? BarbaraGinny wrote: I am a single mom of 2 children and I was just dx with RSD. My 8 yr old son is autistic. I am currently on morphine and oxycodone for the pain. I have been on bedrest since dx with RSD almost 3 weeks ago. Of course with 2 kids and 1 needing my help with everything this has been very hard to do. The RSD is affecting my neck and right side. I am hopefully going to go back to PT again after I see my dr. again next week. I have some questions on how RSD is treated. I also want to know when or if people use the chat room. I am not a stranger to having chronic pain I have had juvenile rheumatiod arthritis since I was 16 yrs old and fibromyalgia since I was 26 yrs old and was dx with Elher-Danlos syndrome ( a connective tissue disorder) 2 yrs ago at age 33 but I have to say the Pain I am experiencing from RSD is the most excruciating pain I have experienced. I am on SSDI and have good drs thankfully. So if any of you can help with any information on RSD and treatments I would greatly appreciate it. I usually don't sleep and noticed from 1 of the postings that was emailed to me that someone wanted to chat 11pm or 12am eastern time let me know if you want to chat at that time...Thanks..Ginny
Guest guest
I live in Peabody, MA. I was in a car accident in Dec and I had a cervical strain..I went to PT and I was about 80% better from when I first was in the accident then about 4 weeks ago I woke up at 2am in excruciating pain and severe swelling in my neck and shoulder blade. I was having some numbness into my arm and hand since the accident when I drove for a period of 15 mins or more...or when I did dishes for a period of time...I had an EMG 2 moonths ago and the dr told me it was from my fibromyalgia being aggrivated from the car accident. The area is very warm to the touch and hot feeling but I had assumed it was from the swelling. Over the last 3 weeks it has just gotten worse instead of better even with the pain meds. I see the dr again a week from monday...but when I saw him a week ago all he mentioned was that he was diagnosing me with RSD and that he was going to start me with PT again. He didn't tell me what RSD was or how it was going to affect me so when I got home I went online and looked under webmd for info on RSD..but didn't get much information. Thank you very much for the welcome...and any information you can give me would be appreciated ....GinnyAlwayzLoRi@... wrote: Ginny, It is nice to meet you, welcome to the group. Guest guest
I went to the Prince concert at the Fleet center...lol. Thats awesome Ginny! I wanted to go to that, but I couldnt get tickets. I have been to a few concerts lately but usually pay the next day due to my sensitivity to sound, it makes my neck tighten up and it makes my skin burn worse, but its worth it LOL! But today I actually feel like I could do some housework...so I am. Its dry out for the moment, I bet thats a bit of a help. I HATE the cold rainy days we have been having...Im definetely not looking forward to winter this year LOL!! Enjoy how good your feeling, but dont overdo it! Talk to you soon!!
