Guest guest
Recently I checked growth charts on line and noticed that my son, age 11,, who I believed was always tracking along or slightly below the 50% line, is now at the %25. Yet a year ago his doctor didn't mention anything at his checkup, or a couple weeks ago while we were in for something else. We've thought he's been looking thin, but I thought he grew tall and hadn't put the fat on yet. Plus he is getting much pickier about his food. He comes from parents who were skinny children (size slim all along...wish it were so now), so I know some of it is genetic. In fact his grandpa was told to drink a milkshake a day when he was a very young adult. My question is, at what point do you consider thiness I sign of nutrietial defiencies? When does a drop on the height/weight chart indicate a problem. I'm just curious. He has tested positive and his new gi doc nodded when I mentioned that he's thin, but I'm also on the alert for his 7 year old brother who is still just under the 50% but doesn't look much plumper.
