Guest guest
If you cannot go beyond 3 days of DMSA without getting wiped out, or increase the dose beyond 15 mg, you are to my mind too toxic to add ALA. Some need to chelate for much longer than 3 months before adding ALA. i would not go by any set time period (because you've been chelating for 3 months), you must go by what your body is indicating to you and I would keep doing what you are doing until you are able to tolerate the chelating round of DMSA better, which will mean you are less toxic. Unless the DMSA itself is the problem, it just tells me it's the mercury and you would be wise to keep going as you are for a longer time. But i'm no professional and I can't really judge what is best, it's just my opinion for what it's worth. Are you taking antioxidants to aid your body during chelation? Also, why is your doctor against DMPS? It is actually often more tolerated than DMSA. Perhaps he's confusing this with IV DMPS and not the oral DMPS that is used every 6 - 8 hours. > I wanted to confirm regarding timing of starting > ALA after initially starting DMSA. Guest guest
1. My mercury levels in hair and blood were astronomical so I was expecting problems and a lengthy period before I can take ALA. I just wanted an idea since I have 30 days to hit the 3 month mark. 2. My neuro was more comfortable with DMSA. I did loan him Cutler's book until my next appointment. He did not feel DMPS was appropriate for me at this point. I told him it was to be given every 6-8 hours. He said we could discuss again at my next appt at the end of August. 3. I have been taking high doses (appropriate) of antioxidants and the supplements aligned with Cutler's list since Jan 05 _____ From: frequent-dose-chelation [mailto:frequent-dose-chelation ] On Behalf Of fats_malone2002 Sent: Tuesday, August 01, 2006 8:32 PM To: frequent-dose-chelation Subject: Re: when to start ALA; after DMSA If you cannot go beyond 3 days of DMSA without getting wiped out, or increase the dose beyond 15 mg, you are to my mind too toxic to add ALA. TK--- you can try adding very low dose of ala also or try increasing your dmsa first for another month or two. I would error on the safe side and increase the dmsa first for a couple months, jmo. Guest guest
Hi, yeah if you have a lot of mercury showing up in your blood and hair, that is bad but evident. You can get people showing highish levels who show no sign of toxicity, which can mean they tolerate mercury much better, or they are eliminating it very easily. Or Others who show high levels (such as yourself) who are corresponding with the obvious toxicity symptoms. You can get someone showing low levels can mean they really have low levels, or they might simply be intolerant to even small levels of mercury, or the mercury is simply tightly bound and not showing up in the excretory areas of the hair and blood. This is why I never go by testing in this regard. It's too inaccurate unless a person (like Andy Cutler) is interpreting it, to where he can see the discrepencies and undersatnd a pattern to what is going on. E.g. Very low levels of mercury, but a person exhibiting obvious mercury symptoms, plus has all the other hall marks of mercury toxicity like the disrupted mineral levels or other things that mercury is notorious for messing around with. At any rate, I hope that the DMSA does help you along the way, whether or not you do add some ALA soon. I don't know whether you use a candida diet, but in case you don't, this 'can " help some of us a lot and can be a lifesaver. So though you're obviously very mercury toxic, you may have candida also which could be contributing to your symptoms and making you feel even worse. many of us have to get off sugar, yeast and gluten completely (even fruit and milk in some worse cases becuase of the natural sugars) to lower the candida levels in our body. Just a suggestion, in case you really feel desperate with symptoms (it might be a help). > > 1.
