Guest guest
That is wonderful. I had the same experience with my insurance company. It is a great feeling. I only had to pay $173. This is with Aetna Insurance. They just needed the script and the letter of medical necessity. I really feel for all of you that are having trouble with your coverage of the band/helmet. Thanks, Jess Mother of (Plagio & Banded), (Tort) and Noah (Tort) (1 year old Triplet boys)onlyashadow8 <shadowfax8@...> wrote: I am AMAZED!! Guest guest
Hi , Honestly, right now I don't know what happened. I fully expected our claim to be denied. When I contacted BCBS and asked about the claim, they had told me that it would go under medical review, and that it was important that it was documented that the treatment was medically necessary. So, I contacted my pediatrician, plastic surgeon, and orthotist to find out what was in their notes, in case they would be requested. Everyone assured me that their medical notes stated that the treatment was medically necessary, and that they believed Noah's condition was present from birth. The plastic surgeon also diagnosed Noah with torticollis, so that was in the notes too. What I don't know is if anyone's notes were requested, or if they just covered it without review. At my future appointments, I will try and find out what documentation got sent where. I also made sure that Noah's treatment was listed under HCPCS code S1040, and I believe an ICD-9 code of 754. I got this information out of the " 1st Step for Insurance " file in the files section. It was a big help! I have no idea if BCBS's stance is different about DOC bands versus STARbands. My son got a STARbnad because that's where our plastic surgeon referred us. If I can help you any further, please let me know! -Amy mother to Noah, 7.5 months, STARbanded 3/17/06 > I am AMAZED!! Guest guest
Hey , We have BlueChoice of SC. It's supposed to be covered but they haven't paid yet. Ergh. Kiersten graduated today from the Charlotte office. Did you have to go through Ancillary Care Management? We did. --- In Plagiocephaly , Warlick <mybandedbaby@...> wrote: > > Hi, I am new to the group and my son is getting his DOC Band Tues 4/4/06 and we have BCBS of NC - Please let me know what process you had to go through - I have posted several messages but no response - (not on this site).
