That is one great NP! It's not uncommon for doctors to shrug off our

concerns.

You may want to consider getting a free evaluation from CT. They can

take pictures of Aria as well as measurements. That way you can go

back in a few weeks to see if repositioning is working. I wish I had

known to do this with DS. I would have loved to see how much had had

improved before banding.

DS was severe. He was banded from 5-8 mo and got full correction.

Good luck with the respositioning. Check out the repo HQ in the files

section.

,How lucky you are to have an informed pediatrician. Aria is at a great age to start treatment. I see that you already have the CT brochure, have you used the assessment charts on thier website to make a guess at severity? Repo is difficult and does not work completely on every baby, especially the severe, and the babies with torticollis. Which brings me to my next question. Has she been diagnosed with torticollis? It sounds as if she has it, when you describe the preference to look in one direction and always ending up with the head turned the same way. If the plagio is severe it can also be a muscle imbalance from being stuck on the flat spot. Both require stretches and sometimes physical therapy to correct. Toricollis can also make facial and ear asymmetry worse, so it should be resolved to recieve the best correction with the plagio. I think that your NP is on top of things and taking the right steps. Try the repo until the 4 month check and see what the NP thinks. You might; just because it takes a bit of time to go through the insurance process, go ahead and make an appointment with CT for a free evaluation. That way you can always start things rolling and if the NP says go ahead you will be ready. They will also send a report to your NP so she can make her reccommendations having the facts in front of her. Here is a link to my son's website, he was treated for severe inutero plagio at CT in Virginia. It takes you through the whole process and also goes into info on the associated risks that can go along with plagio, such as TMJ, developemental delays,etc.. It has many pictures and even shows the casting process. My Banded Baby . I hope this has helped and let us know about the tort and severity if you can. Welcome to our group. Welcome ,

I am also in NC in the Charlotte area and my was banded at

CT in November. He is now 10 months old, was almost 8 months at

banding. He was diagnosed with brachycephaly at 4 months. We tried

repo, but to no avail. I would definetly continue the repo and see

where it gets you. Many people have had a lot of success with it.

The people at CT in Charlotte are wonderful to work with and very

helpful with repo suggestions and stetching exercises. My son was not

ever diagnosed with torticollis, but had a few tighter muscles in his

neck and across his shoulder. I hope that everything goes well and if

you have any questions about the Charlotte CT feel free to email me

directly. samantha1@...

Hi ,

Welcome to the group! I see you've received some great advice already.

:-) I just want to add, in order for repositioning to work it HAS to

be done 24 hours a day, every day, while awake and while asleep. We

have some very useful repositioning information in the files section.

Look in the repositioning folder. Keep us posted.

Good luck,

Hi , I also live in Charlotte. My daughter Lainey is in her 2nd DOC band from Cranial Tech. She got her first at 21 weeks and her 2nd at 7 mos. She outgrew the first one in just 7 weeks, then had a 2 week break and has been in her 2nd one for 7 weeks now. She had a "moderate" case of plagio, as well as tort. We have PT twice a week for the tort. It sounds like your ped. is very knowledgeable, which is great. Mine told me not to worry about the tort or the plagio, that they would both fix themselves. I don't think they would have resolved without intervention, so I'm glad I didn't listen to him! Good luck and let me know if there's anything I can help with!
