1. My daughter is 27 years old and on the diet for 2 1/2 years. The diet

has reduced her seizures about 80% and she is off of medications. She is

alert and her seizures are very short and she recovers immediately. She

seems to be more aware and has changed considerably while on the diet.

2. BHB is a blood ketone monitor. Usually the monitor is free, but the

ketone strips are expensive. Check with a diabetes clinic as they are

usually the same monitor. Most people use urine sticks to check ketone

levels.

Yes, there are lots of problems with the diet! But it is worth it!

Good luck,

Bill

Rado, My daughter is 18 has LGS and has been on the diet for 14

months. I don't have a doctor here in Australia to help me with the

diet so I am doing it without help. We are proof it can be done

without experienced doctors and dieticians but it has been hard work.

I owe a lot of thanks to this group for the support they have given

me. We have had a lot of success with seizure control, alertness and

general good health. We do not use a BHB monitor. We made a lot of

adjustments to the diet in the first months and I am still finetuning

as we go along. Don't give up. Leita.
