Guest guest
hi, i am pretty much a lurker on the list, but tonight i really need someone to whine to that understands, it is a cinch that my 11 year old does not. my legs are hurting me more than they have in well over a year. i can not get to sleep they are huting so much. also, because they are hurting, i can feel myself falling into the poor me syndrom that i really hate to be in. i have suffered from these pains since i was at least 3 years old so i should be used to them but i am not. just to try and get to sleep i am sipping a cup of hot, sleepy time tea and am trying to read a very boring book. no luck with anything and it is almost 12 midnight. i have to be up in 5 hours getting ready for work. sorry to pop in like this. i am just frustrated and hurting and like i said, dropping into the poor me. guess i will leave it at that. thanks for providing a safe haven to whine in girl
Guest guest
Never delete a whine :-) Do you have any idea what is actually causing your leg pain? I had leg pain from the time I was a little kid and it got progressively worse. The pain became " exquisite. " It was finally tracked down to originating from deformation/damage in my lower spine. An elderly orthopaedic surgeon gave surgical success a 40% chance of helping me " somewhat. " His younger colleagues said that surgery was a total waste of time. In 1992, I put my money on the old guy and went for it. The surgery worked better than we expected and that agonizing pain has stayed gone. Now all I have is the plain old fibro leg pain to put up with, but after experiencing the other, I don't complain about it (well not much:-). Guest guest
Hi! Is it like light electrical currents running through your legs? Or pain PAIN? I used to have problems sleeping because of my legs bothering me, the doctor gave me elavil and I was able to sleep with no problems. I don't have the problem anymore and I'm weaning myself off the elavil. I think the kids understand more than we think, but they are just too afraid to acknowledge that there is something wrong with Mom. Just a thought. Rhonda whine whine - delete if you wish > hi, > i am pretty much a lurker on the list, but tonight i really need > someone to whine to that understands, it is a cinch that my 11 year > old does not. > > my legs are hurting me more than they have in well over a year. i > can not get to sleep they are huting so much. also, because they are > hurting, i can feel myself falling into the poor me syndrom that i > really hate to be in. i have suffered from these pains since i was > at least 3 years old so i should be used to them but i am not. > > just to try and get to sleep i am sipping a cup of hot, sleepy time > tea and am trying to read a very boring book. no luck with anything > and it is almost 12 midnight. i have to be up in 5 hours getting > ready for work. > > sorry to pop in like this. i am just frustrated and hurting and like > i said, dropping into the poor me. guess i will leave it at that. > thanks for providing a safe haven to whine in > > girl >
Guest guest
the pains that i get are like someone is in the center of my leg, and punching/kicking to get out. at least that is how i have always discribed it. no electrical current feelings. as a kid, my doc always said that it was just growing pains - sorry doc, i stopped growing years ago. they get so bad at times that i can not walk or stand. i have to fall out of bed and crawl. the pain begins in the calves and then radiates up to the hips where it is just a dull ache. you are right about the kids understanding more. my 6 year old understands as he suffers from the same pains. my 11 year old tho, she understands but is so wrapped up in herself that she acts like when i am down and out, it is an imposition on her. at least the pains are gone for the day. just a dull ache all over my body now, but i have that most days thanks again to all who listened. it really helped. girl > Hi! Guest guest
Hey girl...I understand the problems sleeping. I have restless leg syndrome as part of fibro and my doctor gave me Flexeril which is a mild muscle relaxer. I take it every night w/ a mild antidepressant and the 2 combined put me to sleep 98% of the time. If I don't take them then I am so restless that all I can do is toss and turn. Ask your doctor about Flexeril and Norpramin (10mg each). Guest guest
You whine whenever you feel like it. I always say that sometimes just saying how you feel makes you feel better. That is what I tell my husband anyway!!! LOL I am going through a major flare myself right now & so I can understand how you feel. I hurt so bad that I can barely stand it & that is even with my pain meds. If I didn't have the support of my family, I don't know what I would do. Though I do think that I sometimes pay for that support. Don't get me wrong, I love my family & they love me, but they get tired of the sititution & because it my sittiution, I get all the anger. It is not that they are angry at me, just the sititution, but it doesn't make it any easier. That is why I'm so glad that I have some place to go where I know that other people really understand where I'm coming from. It really helps alot. So when you need someone, we are here. BTW, kids think we are superbeings & never understand when we don't feel well. I have a 7 1/2 & 5 year old & they still need me even when I feel bad & they try to understand that mommy doesn't feel well, but they don't quite get it. Take care & I hope it gets better soon. Guest guest
Tina, I only take it at night because it helps me sleep. For a while there I was getting about 4 hours a night at most and my body requires about 9. I take it about 2 hours before bed...basically it helps me to relax so I can fall asleep. When I wake up in the morning I'm really stiff...today my back is killing me but I'm going to go to yoga anyway and hope some stretching will help. It's my 1st class so keep your fingers crossed that I'll be able to move tomorrow. Anne > Anne, thanks for the info on the Flexeril. My dr gave me Mirapex (a Parkinson medication) to take when it's really bad. Usually helps in about 20 minutes. Only problem is it exacerbates the fibro fog for the whole day. > > I sure can't explain these two 'diseases' to very many people. They start to get this glazed look in their eyes and start looking for the nearest exit! LOL > > Most people think the RLS and the Fibro are 'all in your head' diseases. Like today, I was pulling dead things in the garden and using the pruners. I have to type this one handed now since the pain is so extreme. Hubby WILL NOT acknowledge that I have Fibro...must be muscles I just haven't used before. Yea, right! > > Sorry, I got off the topic. Flexeril....does it help the Fibro at all? > > Tina > > Tina > > >
