Guest guest
Bobbi, It must be very frustrating and confusing with all of the mixed messages you are getting. My opinion would be just keep it on until April 5th. It won't hurt anything. See what your ortho says at your next appt. and also let them know what her cranial facial specialist told you. Like told you definatly go with your gut instinct and what you feel is best for Kaitlyn. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Bobbi, I think you should keep her in her helmet until the 5th. You never know you may just see more correction. Why stop now when there's a chance for even more correction? Guest guest
Bobbi, I know this is so stressful! If it were my child, I'd leave it on until April 5th and you see the ortho-tell him what the Dr. said. Honestly, April 5th isn't very far away-3 weeks! If Kaitlyn(great name by the way!) isn't having problems, then just wait it out-it can only be good for her head. Remember, if the Dr didn't take measurements then he's looking at it SUBJECTIVELY. If you agree with him and her head looks good to you, then discuss with the orth about graduating in April. I would definitely keep at the excercises for the tort-if the Dr. saw it then you need to keep at it...tort is NOT SUBJECTIVE, it either is or it isn't present. Hope this is somewhat helpful...keep us posted! Guest guest
Bobbi, I would have to agree with everyone else and leave the helmet on until April 5th. After Kaitlyn's rescan you can talk to your orthotist and decide whether she should graduate or not. When Sophie was fitted for her helmet we were told she would wear the helmet 3 months. She ended up wearing it 4 1/2 months and I wished we had more time. I know a few more weeks probably seems like forever but if you can see even that much more correction, it'll be worth it. Plus I would worry if her tort is regressing and she can still wear that helmet to take it off at this point. We are going to a PT in Grand Rapids that one of the other plagio moms from this board told us about. Sophie still tilts her head to the left and has low muscle tone. I heard from , the other plagio mom and our pediatrician that this lady is awesome. I'll let you know if she thinks she can help Sophie's tort. Good luck in what you decide to do and let us know! Guest guest
Bobbi, Well I don't see the harm in leaving the helmet on til April. This is usually when the little fine tuning changes happen and they can make a big difference, if that makes sense. At that appt. you can say you are ready to be done if they want her to wear it more. As far as the tilt goes, I have had times when I walk in and someone says, oh he's tilting again and I never noticed it because I see him everday. Remember too that stress causes the tilt to come back a bit, and if this is a doctor she doesn't see often it is a stressful appointment in new surroundings. When the PT who she sees alot comes around she is not stressed so no tilt....make sense. Poor Dominick was tilting up a storm when we had to go for his post op visit and the next day you couldn't see it all.
