I'm not sure how you know if it's ill fitting. Someone tomorrow will

answer I'm sure. I was thinking logically that probably based upon

the results, comparing to the original headshape but I'm not sure.

How do you test to see if it's too tight? I don't even know what too

tight is.

hello,

the way i gauge it is, if i can wiggle it around a bit without it shifting it

around too much i

think that would indicate that its a decent fit. anyways ill ask tomorrow and

make them do

another scan to make sure.

Oh ok I guess I should ask too when we go in again how I can

recoginze if it's getting too tight or something.

Try to get some sleep. Just think if you sleep the closer you'll be

to going in to have it checked tomorrow. It's good you're bringing

up your concerns right away when you notice them.

An ill fitting helmet won't always cause red spots. If it was made

or adjusted improperly then it might be redirecting growth to an

incorrect area but doing it gently enough that it's not causing skin

irritation. We've had parents in the past not complain of red spots

but have problems with the fit.

Does a scan capture the entire head or just the bottom portion of it

(ask to see the read out)? Make sure it checks head height too not

just skull base. According to the FDA, the STARscanner actually

got it's FDA approval because it's similar to

http://www.vorum.com/pdf/48_e.pdf which is a foot scanner. I don't

really know more than the information on the Orthomerica website and

that brochure. So you may want to ask about capturing the top of

the head too. Please also note the warning at the bottom about eye

safety. I don't really know how this differs from the STARscanner,

but if repeated scans are done you may want to ensure it's modified

and proven safe through tests.

Good luck today! They have a history of really attempting to cover

their tracks (check out some posts from last year). If you don't

feel comfortable ask someone else. And of course we are here to

support you no matter what!

And maybe try to capture a current picture at the exact same angle

as the before. Like I said before maybe the angle is really

enhancing the blocky appearance.

My dh only went to Dane's casting. I've done all the adjustments

and PT for both kids. It can feel burdensome when you're doing it

alone. Those PT sessions can sometimes feel like your soul is being

ripped apart! I feel for you!

You can have an ill fitting helmet and have no red marks at all. The

shape inside the band is the shape the head will take on and each

adjustment to that must be done precisely so that the growth is

directed to the correct areas without adding growth to unwanted areas.

so all can seem fine with the fit and there can still be a problem. I

know this is hard and frustrating but you are doing a great job and

staying on top of things.
