Guest guest
Our local orthotic helmet provider uses a chin strap. My personal feeling is that it will causse more discomfort for my daughter, and might result in a chin defect as well. We don't live near a city that carries the DOC brand. Does anyone know of a city near Louisville, KY that would carry something similar to that brand. Any suggestions would be appreciated, since we're having our daughter's helmet fitted this coming up Tuesday, March 7th. She's now 6-months old, and it will take them 3-weeks to make the helmet. Thanks.

Guest guest
hello! My son's helmet has a chin strap and it isn't a problem. It's not on tight enough to bother him, just to keep the helmet on. I asked if it would affect his jaw or anything and they said it would not. The only problem with it is it's annoying because you have to take it off every time they eat and when they drool alot it gets all wet. We have little socks with the toes cut off over it to help soak up some of the drool. Anyway, we have the Clarren Helmet and you can see pictures of my son in it in the M-Folder under Mayson in the photo section. It really isn't that bad and like I said it's not on that tight. I hope that helps a little! Take Care! ) Mayson's Mamma > > Our local orthotic helmet provider uses a chin strap. Guest guest
Thanks for the information. I checked out the photo, and he looks like a very happy and cute little boy. I still think that compared to pictures of the other helmets it's a little bit cumbersome. Is your helmet FDA approved? On Monday I'm going to call and see if the helmet that my child is going to receive is approved. Also, how long did it take for them to make it? Have a nice Sunday. Guest guest
Hello there I just wanted to let you know that 3wks between casting and fitting is too long. it should not go beyond 2wks. Can you find out why it takes them this long? I haven't had any exp with chinstraps, but I'm sure other parents will chip in. Guest guest
I'm a new plagio mom in northern Kentucky (Covington). We were referred to The Brace Shop by Children's Hospital of Cincinnati. They use the Hanger Cranial Band. If you are really wanting to try somewhere else, maybe a trip to Cincinnati is in order? My daughter was scanned on March 1st and we pick up her band on March 15th, so I can't speak about fit yet. Just letting you know there are some other options out there within a 90 minute drive...
