I see in various links from this website that it can be anywhere from $1500-$3000. Is this about right? I am asking because Medical Center Brace & Limb in Houston, Texas is charging us $4000! Since insurance normally will deny this type of claim, they required us to put 50% down before they would even order the helmet. We went ahead and did it without question because we wanted to get the band on our son ASAP after we decided to move forward with this line of therapy (he's already 6 1/2 months). Now that we are looking around though, we are wondering if we didn't get ripped on the price. Just wondering what others may know about this, thanks! Guest guest
Different STARband facilities charge different prices. My daughter's was 1500 but that was in October of 2002. You could always ask why the cost is so much higher there. Please let us know what you find out. Angie and jenna(STAR grad) Cost of a STARband What is the going rate for a STARband? Guest guest
I think your Starband cost is way too high. I am guessing that Houston has a high cost of living that might put the price on the higher end of the range. I live in Philadelphia (PA) where the cost of living is on the higher end. Our band only cost $2200 (including casting and all adjustments). Guest guest
The cost of the STARband varies from location to location as each ortho is independent and can set their own pricing. We live in Northern California and the cost of our STARband 2 1/2 years ago was $2,800. The reason STARband babies usually only need one band is because the bands can be worn for up to 6 months as long as the baby doesn't grow out of it before then. Can you have the dr write you a prescription for a band without specifying who the provider has to be? That way, you can use the prescription at either location. Molly Novato, California Nicolas, 3, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) 4/24/06-9/12/06, Graduate! , 5.5 , 9 cost of a STARBand Hi, this is my first message. We live in the Dallas area where there is both a Cranial Tech and a STARCenter. We were referred to CT by our pedi and had our consultation yesterday. Out daughter (3 mos) was dx w/brachy (they did not specify severity, just said her head was " significantly " wider than the norm) and recommended band treatment. They also mentioned the possibility that she might need 2 bands. We have United Healthcare insurance, so we know we are looking at paying all or most of the cost--$6000 if she needs 2 of them--out of pocket. So then I visited the STARCenter website, which said very few of their children need second or third bands. I was interested. Unfortunately they only do initial evals w/a doctor's prescription, and I don't want my doc to write the Rx until I know which band we are going to go with (or if we will band at all since repositioning has been helping her flatness and head height; however, the CT tech said repo won't do much to correct the width of her head). Does anyone here have experience with a STARCenter or the STARBand who can tell me approximately how much a STARBand costs? Are they about the same price as the DOC Bands? ------------------------------------ For more plagio info
