Guest guest
Dear Lee; Have you thought about Mt. Sinai Medical School, Division of Gastroenterology, in New York City? They specialize in IBD, but also treat disease of the bile ducts: " Mount Sinai Gastroenterology Faculty Practice Associates specialize in the diagnosis and treatment in inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease), colorectal and other gastrointestinal cancers, peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, gastrointestinal motility disorders (especially female pelvic floor disorders), and diseases of the pancreas and bile ducts that may require advanced endoscopic techniques. Guest guest
Hi Lee, I think what I posted was the US News & World Report’s Best Hospitals list. They list Mt Sinai as #7 for GI disorders. You can read that report at: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/best-hospitals/rankings/specihqgast.htm On their Honor Roll (Best of the Best) they list New York- Presbyterian Hospital at #16 – you can read that report at: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/best-hospitals/directory/glance_6210024.htm If you want a first hand recommendation – I’d ask Penny, her doctor saved her life and she has been doing well (transplant free) ever since. Son Ken (32) UC 91 - PSC 99 Listed 7/21 @ Baylor Dallas Barb,Best hospital for PSC in NYC Dear Barb, I have been looking through all my saved emails, because I thought you once posted a list of hospitals that were ranked by how they treated liver disease. I might be dreaming because I can't find it. With my son moving to NYC, I have a list of possible physicians for him but I want to pick one that is associated with a hospital with a good reputation for treating PSC and for liver transplants. Although we have been to Mayo in Rochester, he needs someone local to keep tabs on him. Would you let me know if you did post a list of hospitals with good reputations? Thanks so much Lee
Guest guest
There are some members from the NYC area, but I wouldn't number Penny among them. She was treated at Strong-Memorial in Rochester, NY - a good 300 miles from NYC. In the small town where I once lived in upstate NY, " the city " referred to Rochester not NYC. NYC was a vacation destination not a familiar playground. Guest guest
Right, I was treated at Strong in Rochester, NY which most New Yawkers consider somewhere off the western edge of civilization. Mt Sinai is in the forefront of liver transplant in the NYC area. Has anyone been going there lately? After the horrible news about the living donor death, I suspect that they have made some huge changes in how they manage care.
