I am reading it again as a n adult and I realize now how wordy he is. Still I think it is a good read. But I like that stuff anyway... I read it at thirteen and then about every year again for the next maybe ten years and then would skip a few years before reading it again. I would guess I have read it twenty times probably. And I have to read it again every year as each new installment of the movie comes out. Salli

Guest guest
Here's where I admit I never read the Lord of the Rings ... I also never saw those Monty Python movies people are always talking about .... And I've never seen a single episode of South Park either. And the game Uy Gi Hu or whatever it is... never heard of it. Is anyone surprised I don't know what a Wiggle is? Sissi the unhip

Guest guest
Salli, you are a woman after my very own heart. I have become such a Lord of the Rings nerd. I have been re-reading it recently and also reading Silmarillion. I suppose all that exposure is what inspired my " dream " .... <sigh> But, hey, this is my escape, and we all need one. LOL, I even had to ask him who that was (and I've seen the first movie 2 times and the second movie 1 time). He thought that post was hilarious. I've even tried reading the books. Tolken just has too many damn words. I found myself counting how many words in a sentence, and had to put it down. I guess I'm not smart. > Intelligence has nothing to do with it. Tolkien uses too many archiac words for me too and I LOVE fantasy. I finally finished the trilogy. I think I'll stick to the movies! Remind me not to tick Salli off! My little menagerie is quite enough! I have WAY too many spiders around here for Enrique. He'd be a quivering bowl of jello on the ceiling in no time. We have one that builds a web outside our kitchen window every year (okay, same species of spider, not the exact same one). The kids love to watch it. It's really big and it catches some really big horseflies in it's web. Tian
