Guest guest
Hi Tina, My son has Behcets Disease (an autoimmune condition that causes ulceration and inflammation in any part of the body that has a blood supply). It was diagnosed a few years ago when severe inflammation of his eyes almost caused permanent loss of sight. He has an arthritic condition in his back, knee and ankle joints. He has to take immuno-suppresants (cyclosporin & azathiaprin), and steroids (prednisilone) and other stuff. He has monthly liver and kidney function tests. He is only 26 years old; is a climbing, canoeing and outdoor pursuits coach and a youth/conservation worker. Last summer he cycled the length of France (ferry from Britain to Northern France then south to the Pyrenees mountains and on to Portugal). He has recently joined a rowing club as well as continuing with all his other sports. OK so he doesn't want to put these drugs into his body, but he also knows that without them he will go blind, become crippled and probably die. The life he is living now has quality; he is in pain but nothing like the pain he had before. Sometimes these things are a gamble. My heart broke when I saw the plastic bags of drugs he brought back from the hospital but I am overjoyed that he is living life to the full and having fun as a young man should. I don't know if that helps? I feel sad that anyone has this dilemma. --- storm12256 wrote: > Hi > I was just wondering I was talkig to Topper > today and well we > were talking about my back situation I am sure most > of you know I > have severe Arthritis in my lumbar spine and I have > 2 bulging discs > in my cervical spine complicated by stenosis of my > spine which means > the spinal canal is narrowing. Guest guest
Tina, maybe I am just dense but....exactly what are " they " or you trying to accomplish with these meds? Pain management? I had a molar pregnancy a few years ago....many times this condition can cause a form of cancer where the tissue in the uterus continues to grow and can metastisize to the brain. Many of the women I know who had this turn into cancer were given Methotrexate. I know drugs are used for many things other than what they are intended to be used for. That is why I was asking what it was suppose to do for you. Hang in there, Kat > > Hi > I was just wondering I was talkig to Topper today and well we > were talking about my back situation I am sure most of you know I > have severe Arthritis in my lumbar spine and I have 2 bulging discs > in my cervical spine complicated by stenosis of my spine which means > the spinal canal is narrowing. Guest guest
Kat , What it will actually do is reduce the swelling and inflamation and the pain in any joint that it arthritic it also slows the damage done by arthritis and the progression of atrhritis. Wow that makes me feel better about it knowing that it will help the quality of life better . Right now I feel almost dead I don't want to go anywhere cause of the pain I know I will have to endure . Yes your post made me feel alot better and I thank you . Like I told Topper I went from a person who hated taking pills to a person who sits and thinks did I take all my meds this morning. I feel like a human medicine cabinet, but like you said I guess they are necessary to have any quality to your life.
