Hi all,

I just joined this group. It has been 10 years since my cancer diagnosis and to be honest I hadn't thought much about bc for a long time! Recently I had a mammo that mentioned benign calcifications. Because of my history I asked if I could see a breat surgeon. So I went to see her a few days ago and she wasn't really concerned too much about the calcifications but she did find a lump - very small one - in my right breast (non-cancerous breast). I'm going this Monday for a new mammo and an ultrasound. I'm scared to death! I do realize that 4 out of 5 lumps are not cancerous but with my history! Plus my period is coming up in the next few days and a lot of women have "lumpy" breasts before their period so maybe that is all it is. It's weird too because I saw my gyn doc the same day and she did a breast exam and didn't mention any lump.

I know that nobody here can tell me what I want to hear because I won't know anything until Monday. But I'm just scared and hope to hear that some of you have had lumps that turned out NOT to be cancer! Since my cancer I've lost BOTH of my parents to cancer (mom-lung and dad-esophageal).

My original cancer was diagnosed when I was 30 and it was Paget's which is VERY rare. I always considered myself very lucky because I only had to have a mastectomy -no radiation or chemo. I was also able to get immediate reconstruction - TRAM flap at the same time. Now I'm thinking that my luck is up and now that I've just celebrated 10 years without cancer it has come back to get me!

Look forward to your commments
