Guest guest
I know some folks are showing reactions to iodine... it think it aggravates hashi's and grave's antibodies... but I wonder... the crap foods (the term fits) often contain a lot of artificial things, unhealthy fillers, like carageenan, and soy... so it could be more than the salt.... I have a couple of dozen cans of milk that I used to use in cooking and baking. I always had to be careful with their use cuz canned milk has carageenan added... but after reading up on just exactly what carageenan is and what it does to the body...... I don't know if can ever use the stuff and I sure can't give it to someone else, knowing what is in it.... Short story... there are three forms of processed carageenan, it comes from red seaweed. One form can't be used as a food, it's used for things like deicing planes... oh YUM.. .the 'food grade' from, once ingested, is broken down by the body into three forms... one is okay.... can't remember the second right now... the third causes cancer. Not increases risk of... causes. The more and more I read... it seems some folks have an allergic reaction to it and their bodies purge it... Seems that if I add the guar gum, that's when my body purges it.... without the guar gum.... I'm increasing the illness to my body??? I can't even describe what it feels like... I've had illness born diarrhea, I've had food poisoning diarrhea with vomiting.... but with the carageenan and guar gum... my body is violent, uncontrollable and purges until only clear liquid is being passed. As soon as it's all out, I'm just fine. Sore from the reaction of the muscles involved... nothing more fun than having a bucket between your knees while on the john.... .... and they feed this garbage to us!!! Guest guest
that's why I switched to natural and organic foods. This is also why I hate shopping at walmart. I still have to but I notice just how many people that shop there are fat and I'm not talking chunky... but really really fat. People might get offended... but look at the type of food they sell. maybe 5% of it including the veggie section is actually good for you... makes you wonder doesn't it?? I wish the demand for organics would rise so the price would go down. Then I don't think people would have such a problem eating healthier and they would be able to avoid foods they are allergic to. Incidentally Topper, milk does that to me... minus the vomiting. A lot of it was not having a gall bladder... it was like s#it through a goose you might say lol. Allergic reactions are horrible. The best thing I've found for them is to just continue drinking water after bottle after bottle, laying down *if I'm not 'goosing it' as above* or taking naproxen. I feel really horrible donating the non organic food to shelters and things to get rid of it because I know what's in it and how much of it poisons people... I just feel like it's fueling the bad things in the world. Happily stores like walmart are catching on... they are starting to carry organic/natural foods but you've got to hunt them out. Most of the stuff in the international sections are found in organic stores and some things we can buy in specialty markets as being organic or natural walmart might sell. Kroger is also a place we frequent. They have complete sections of natural/organic/specialty diet foods. Food co-ops and natural food stores are others. They also offer discount cards and you can get store cards (for the natural stores) and they are pretty much used in all natural stores/coops. So that helps a lot. Fresh Market, Whole Foods are two other stores... when I saw the choices the first time I stepped inside a Whole Foods.. I cried... really. Good luck everyone, Re: Carageenan and guar gum, not fun for some I know some folks are showing reactions to iodine... it think it aggravates hashi's and grave's antibodies... but I wonder... the crap foods (the term fits) often contain a lot of artificial things, unhealthy fillers, like carageenan, and soy... so it could be more than the salt.... Guest guest
This is why guar gum is used to induce IBS in experiments. ;o((( I'm sorry you have this reaction. What a blessing though because many foods - yes even organic foods - have carageenan and guar gum in them. Not only do " they " sell it and feed it to us, we pay good money for adulterated food... Guest guest
Now that I know what causes it, and can avoid it, it's something I can deal with.. .but the years it took to find out what caused it.. that it was a particular combination of things, was maddening. I had a bleeding ulcer in my twenties... so I did a lot of dairy... ice cream, milk... cheese. And then suddenly it seemed as though I was lactose intolerant? I was for a while, I couldnt' even drink milk but that passed after about a year and then it became this intermittent thing... I could eat this brand of ice cream, but not that, I could have this type of cheese on my macaroni, but not that. I could have a chocolate shake at that store, but not a cherry, and if I went to that store I could have a cherry but not a chocolate. Now I'm sitting here, shaking my head... All the goofy stuff I did trying to figure out what the heck was wrong.... and the really HARD part.. .when I had it narrowed down and started direct exposure?? And then when I had it... and had to test it!
