Dave I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I have a friend who was dx

with kidney cancer right at the same time I was dx with my IgAN. It was so

strange that we started having problems at the same time, I was dx first and

she was hoping her dx would come back with something as " simple " as IgAN.

She has been in and out of the hospital for radiation and chemo treatments.

So far she is hanging in there and last I talked with her they were going to

get her ready for dialysis in the near future.

Both kidney cancer and IgAN are survivable with careful treatment. I also

hope your disability claim goes thru now...I don't think they can fight it

anymore with this sort of dx. Hang in there and keep fighting!

It's good to hear from you! I am so sorry to hear about your sister. Is

this the sister that was rejected as a possible donor for you?

Bet you're glad that the school year is out. What a year!

Hi Dave,

My heart just breaks for you. I am so sorry you have kidney cancer on top of

IgAN. I do want to encourage you that I also have a good friend who survived

kidney cancer so it is definitely not a death sentence. I am sorry you have

some rough times ahead with your treatment for it though. Please know you are

in my thoughts and prayers.

Let us know how you are doing Dave.

Oh Dave, that is so bad. If you lose your kidneys to Igan, you lose

both of them. Why can't they take both out?

Hi Martha,

I am sorry PT seems to be taking longer than you would like. Being depressed

on top of medical problems can be overwhelming. Do you have enough support

at home from friends and family? Depression is not uncommon when you are

dealing with a chronic illness, and I am glad you made your doctor aware of it

so

they can treat it.

I hope your computer problems are quickly resolved.

It can be depressing enough just knowing we have an incurable chronic

illness. I mean, none of us can really be all positive all of the time, even

though we try. But with chronic kidney disease and the renal insufficiency

it causes, other things happen and the chemistry in our bodies gets out of

whack in many ways. Depression can be one of those things that happen.

Medications can sometimes be at least partly the culprit. There isn't much

evidence that ACE inhibitors and their cousins the ARB's cause depression,

but there certainly is for other kinds of BP meds. Prednisone is a strange

one in some ways too, because it can cause mood swings both ways, depression

and anxiety, and other things. So, I'm glad they are looking after you,

Martha.

Thanks guys. Things with my family have been off. I have an older

sister that don't talk to me any more; and the onther ones are

(feeling like) they are waiting for me to get my retro-check from

ssdi. My dad hinted at borrowing money, my sister just came out and

ask and my other sister wants me to buy my parnets plane ticket so

they can go to her graduation and still I will have to buy for an

motel for two to go myself. So right now I don't have them for

support plus they all don't want to hear about it. i was told I was

being a burden on my family. I do still have my rock , my boyfriend

of 10 years , his mom and little brother and my best friend. But

don't see or talk much to my friend she going to school and work. I

think i have to much time to think. Well again thanks.

Martha,

That is really not right that your family is wanting to make claims on your

SSDI. That money is to secure YOUR future and to protect YOU. Please don't let

your family feel you have to give any of your disability check over to them,

particularly since they tell you that you are a burden to them. That is just

terrible for you to feel you are a burden to them.

I am glad that you have the support of your boyfriend and his family though.

Take care,
