Cudo's for advocating for yourself. I do have to admit though that I find it

funny that your professor didn't connect that having visual and hearing

disabilities alone is tough for someone. It wasn't until the she understood by

her

own experience of ONE thing you have to deal with, that apnea, that she

finally " got it. " Better late than never. I am sure this professor saw that

lightbulb moment of what it is for you to be in class. I am sure she has even

more

respect and admiration for you than she did before.

Nice work! Thanks for sharing that good news.

I thought I would take a quick break from essay writing to share what

happened last Friday when I spoke with my instructor about how much trouble

I was having in her course. She wasn't too sympathetic at first until I told

her about my sleep apnea. She suffers from the same thing and is well aware

of how it can affect a person.

In the end she decided to allow me to do four take home exams, (repeating

the two I have failed) and they will be essay questions. I get them this

coming Wednesday and must hand all four in on April 5th. So I am quite happy

with the results of the meeting! Its a relief to know she is willing to work

with me and now I most likely will not fail.

Good for you! It must be so hard to continually have to speak up and fight

for what you need. I know I get exhausted of it as Aubrie's mom -- so you

guys who do it for yourself must get even more tired of it. I'm glad you

found a way to reach the professor and get her to understand.

I am glad the meeting led to positive results. It speaks highly of

your ability to stick to the facts and not let your emotions derail

you in meetings like that - hard for all of us!

On the other hand, it is still a bit bothersome that it was not until

there was a condition that she had experience with that she softened

up, when it would have been nice if she would have gained some insight

on how difficult it is to have vision and hearing loss.

I have no doubt you will do fine on the essay tests and will not fail!
