Guest guest
Jody, Judith has evaluated Dylan and I feel the benefits for him are remarkable. That was a year and a half ago. In January I went to the 2 day intro course. I found it very enlightening - for Dylan and for Tyler. It is the only thing I have ever found that looks at all of the child and then develops a program specific to that child's needs to deal with the root causes. Everything else has always been dealing with the symptom of the neurodevelopmental problem and generally are program specific rather than child specific. We had professionals from all fields in our course, Physician, PhD, OT, PT, speech, sensory integration, cranial sacral, Brain Gym, nurses and teachers. I would say for all of us, we learned the info in a simple way, yet in a way that is far " deeper " in understanding of how everything works together, than we had ever learned before. The course costs far less than a complete Judith evaluation and program. After the 2 days you should have a good sense of if you think the full program would be beneficial for Ethan. Guest guest
Kim- After the 2 day training, did you have a sense of things you could do for Dylan? A better understanding of him? Did the knowledge you gained give you anything of real value and benefit besides confirming that Dylan needs the program? Guest guest
It is a good thing Ellen replied to this or I would have forgotten - the original question from Michele came as I was on my way out the door, of course it had long left my mind by the time I came back in - now you all know why I respond promptly - it is then or never. Michele, The training is designed to be an overview. You leave with 12 exercises that you can use. There are over 100 all together, so it is just a start. Do I feel it gave me more understanding of when to do what with Dylan, yes. Without a doubt, it also helped to further understand the " CHARGE quirks " . The areas that really fascinated me were the oddities about how vision is used, as well as ahas about some of the common educational concerns; math, writing...... It also gave me huge insights into Tyler and his mood lability, as well as his learning disabilities, and Inattentive ADD stuff. I guess the biggest thing for parents is to gain more insight into why their kids function as they do. I truly believe that understanding leads to such huge differences in outcomes for the child! Did that answer? Guest guest
Hi Jody, I have attended two of Judith's conferences. One in 2000 in Waterloo, IA and one in 2003 in Chicago. It is well worth your time and money. I learned so much. from IL (Karlee 17) HANDLE Conference > Has anyone ever attended a HANDLE conference? Guest guest
Kim- Yes, that answered. You've talked about HANDLE enough that I sort of knew your answer, but I guess I needed to hear it again. I have another commitment that weekend, but if I can get out of it, I think this training would be excellent for me at this stage in Aubrie's life. I'm glad Jody brought it up cuz I would never have known. Michele W mom to Aubrie 8 yrs CHARGE, 14 yrs and wife to DJ
Guest guest
I truly thought of Aubrie and so much while I was at the HANDLE workshop. I hope you can go. kim > Kim- > Yes, that answered. You've talked about HANDLE enough that I sort of knew > your answer, but I guess I needed to hear it again.
