Guest guest
Are you looking for a great family vacation this summer where you don't need to worry about what you are eating? Shady Creek Family Camp is providing a special gluten-free menu July 30 - Aug. 5 as part of its regular family camp program. I am sharing this info with people – not that I profit in anyway – I have no other affiliation with the camp except that the owner is a friend of a friend and I told him that I thought it would be great to do a Gluten Free week. I told him how many of us there are and it could be a great thing for him and us Celiacs and he said, Yes! They did have a Celiac family last year at the camp and the cook is knowledgeable about the diet. I have not attended the camp but did speak with the family that did last year and they were pleased – they thought it would be even more fun if there were a lot of families on the Gluten Free diet there too. GLUTEN-FREE MENU AT SHADY CREEK FAMILY CAMP THIS SUMMER Shady Creek is a wonderful, new, all-inclusive family camp located near Grass Valley/Nevada City in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, near the Tahoe National Forest. It is about a 3 hour drive from San Francisco and is one of the best vacations a family can have. Shady Creek offers two packages: full week (7 days/6 nights) and partial week (4 days/3 nights). The prices are at http://www.shadycreekcamp.com/pricingandreserve.html, and there's currently a good discount that expires Friday, March 31. Shady Creek is designed for families to spend quality time together in the great outdoors. Many families come with friends. There are organized activities during the day including arts & crafts, swimming, ropes course, archery, nature hikes and a variety of other sports activities. Evening activities include campfires, talent show, outdoor movie night, Luau Night and Parent's Night Out. Offsite, Shady Creek offers wakeboarding and waterskiing, trips to a local gold mine and box lunches at swimming holes along the Yuba River. Families stay in new cabins with private decks, a lodge with loft rooms, or adobe dome cabins with skylights and patios. Each room or cabin has one queen and two twin beds (more beds are provided for larger families.) Three wholesome meals per day are served in a large, spacious dining hall, the large pool is open all day and there is a small general store for sundries. This is an opportunity for a great family vacation and a chance for you and your kids to meet others on a gluten-free diet. If this sounds good to you, please see the Shady Creek website for more information at http://www.shadycreekcamp.com/familycamp.html, or call Shady Creek at . -- If you can't make it for July 30 - Aug. 5, call Shady Creek. They might be able to accommodate your family by providing the gluten- free menu during other weeks. Sincerely, Ann Reigelman East Bay R.O.C.K. Leader areigelman@...
