Guest guest
Elle, The lactation consultant told me I could put ice packs on them to get some of the swelling down, something about all the fluid in your body before you deliver goes up there??? It felt good though... Anyway, she also said I could try that, or the warm washcloths or standing in a warm/hot shower to try to get the milk to start flowing and soften them up, that is why pumping some will help to soften them up to. I guess whatever works!!! She had lots of suggestions. Sometimes when the baby is crying etc. you just don't have the TIME to get in a bath/shower, you know what I mean....sometimes I just went to the bathroom and put warm washcloths on them and tucked a towel into the waistband of my shorts. I am probably the last one to ask, because it didn't work out to well for me. Vicki myeroyse@... wrote: > > Vicki, > OMG!!! That sounds like it really hurts! Guest guest
, What great information! Thank you! No, you didn't confuse me more ~ your info really cleared up some questions. I do not want to be " Elsie the cow " , so I'm glad I asked! Thanks again! elle > Elle, > > Don't worry about the breastfeeding sounding difficult. Guest guest
Vicki, Thanks! That all makes sense and both ways probably work fine, depending on the person. Sounds like I'll be going from swelling in my ankles to swelling in my boobs! Oh...the joys of Motherhood! Gives me a much greater appreciation for my Mom! elle > > > > > > Hey everyone.... > > > > > > > > > > > > Since there is so much baby stuff out there, could I get some > > > > > > recommendations on which seats/strollers/cribs, etc.... > > everyone > > > > > > liked or didn't like. Guest guest
Hey Pam! I've been checking in daily, but have been trying to keep my feet up most of the day, so I haven't been online that much. Thanks for checking in on me. I'm actually off to our Dr. appt. so I'll have more to report this weekend. I think everything is okay...I'm just feeling very large and uncomfortable! We are very anxious, although I hope Roo waits at least until Oct. 6th. My DH leaves Monday for his conference and will return on Friday. His company will get him back if I call and tell him it's time, but I hate pushing the envelope! Hopefully we'll find out today if we are looking at a C-Section or not as well. How are you???????????/ elle 38 weeks > Elle > > You have been so quiet this week. Is everything ok? Guest guest
Pam, Thank you so much for taking the time to post to me about your experience. It sounds like everything went very smoothly and with virtually no pain. I like that! My Dh and I are both nervous wrecks! We didn't sleep very much night before last and then last night hardly at all. I'm hoping that we'll sleep some tonight just because we're so tired. Then again, I'm betting we won't sleep at all! We have already gone back to Daylight Savings, so until you turn your clocks back at the end of October, we are currently one hour behind Central Standard Time. So, when we have the C-Section at 8am our time, it is 9am Central Time and 10am on the East Coast. You covered just about everything I could think of. I was wondering about the bleeding too. Is it supposed to last long and be quite heavy? I'm hoping I can breastfeed too. I've heard it can be harder with a C-Section or maybe it just takes more time getting it down. And, I'm so thankful to hear you didn't feel any pain! Our Lamaze instructor told me to expect to feel some pressure as they are pushing the baby out. Apparently they do it that way in order to help with the breathing of the baby. I had packed some button down pj's, but am now thinking of taking them out. I probably won't want to wear elastic waist pants! I'm guessing the hospital gown will work fine. What did you wear home though? I have some pants and a denim nursing shirt packed. Pam, I am filled with such joy for you and Steve! You must feel as though you have landed on cloud 9!!! Enjoy every moment! How long will Steve be able to stay home with you??? He must be so proud of both you and Belle! And, I bet you are loving watching him with her! That's one thing I look forward to the most is watching my Dh with our baby. Take care and try to get some rest! Thank you again for taking time to post to me! It means the world! Love, elle > Hi Elle > > I can imagine how nervous you are today. Guest guest
Hi Elle I can't wait for you to have your little one tommorrow!!! When I was sitting in my room w/Belle I saw a woman from our childbirthing class walking the halls in labor. It was a nice feeling that I didn't have to go through that. Make sure you have plenty of help. You are really going to rely on your dh a lot. I can tell just being at home I have to take it easy and not walk around to much. We were both really nervous to. Also I forgot to mention that I was told that babies have fluid etc in there stomachs. When you have natural delivery the contractions help get this out of their stomach. Steve said they had to suck Belles out w/a tube. The first night she got real nazaley. You could hear her trying to choke it up. Steve had to suction it out. We did have to bring her to the nursery so they could get more out w/a tube. But she has been fine since. I heard you don't have as much bleeding w/c-sections. I have only had brown blood so far. I think as far as breastfeeding w/the c-section what makes it hard is that you just had major surgery and now have to learn to feed the baby. She slept a lot the first day. I wore a nursing hospital gown. It was way easier to just unsnap the arms off. I just wore home my maternity stretchy pants and a sweat shirt. I didn't wear any make up. I took a shower and put my hair up in a pony tail. I didn't wear any of my underwear. They gave me a big pad and those stretchy gauze underwear. I have been wearing those. I can't wait for tomorrow. At least w/c-sections we did't have to wait any longer. I can't wait to see how big Roo is. When will you be coming home? Love, Pam
