,

Welcome to the group. Sounds like you have found a wise endo. You're lucky

to have done so.

There are lots of resources here, both group members and our now-dauntingly

large archive. A good first piece of advice is to always get a copy of your

labs, and keep a record. You can share numbers here and we'll help you to

understand them.

I'm sure Jody and others will chime in with more good info and advice.

Hi Jody,

I have to tell you I was so surprised to learn of your father-in-law's death

from CJD. Most people have never heard of it. So, if the books and docs are

right about stress causing Graves that was enough to do it in my opinion.

Thanks Elaine for the info on the bone enzyme. Sometimes docs seem to think we

won't understand things and I was in enough of a fog not to ask. I did have

enough smarts to ask for a copy of my original labs and results of the scan and

uptake and intend to ask for all of them so I can keep track. The lab tracker

on the support site is great!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I am learning allot and hope I can

contribute as I learn more. My endo seems very open to questions. I understand

it is difficult in some areas of the country to find an endo that has extensive

experience with thyroid problems.

Hi Shelby,

I'm glad you got here! We usually get more than enough iodine in our diets

on a daily basis...I will be looking for an answer to this one too...I hope

this does not make you go hyper again.

TTYL, someone else will pop in if they have an answer for you ;-)

Hi! My ortho is in KC as well, just curious who you are seeing. I would be

tempted to listen to Ponseti. I know it would be difficult to 'do nothing'

during that time, but he is the expert.

My ortho is Dr. Latz at Children's Mercy. Thanks for the reassurance. We

are at least considering visiting Ponseti again in the spring (with or without

insurance) for another consult. will be 3 by then and Dr. Latz said the

tibial tendon transfer between 2 1/2 and 4 years. We don't really want to wait

if it has to be done, however, we only want to do it if it is absolutely

necessary. My husband is concerned about the look of 's foot. I am only

concerned with function.

Welcome !

I also became pregnant at 4 mos post op. So far everything is going

great! Try not to be scared you have taken all the right steps in

letting your surgeon and OB know. Just be sure to take your vitamins

and get all the protein you can in. I have lost weight during the

pregnancy and the baby is growing just fine. Remember we are all

here for you so ask away with any and all questions that you might

have!

Hi -

Nope, not the first baby. This will be my fourth and though she is a

definite " oooops " I couldn't be happier. My first 3 are 9, 7, and 6 so this

one is spaced out there. I have had ultrasounds at every visit and they all

say girl but I know firsthand from my oldest that an US can deceive. :P He

was a girl each time and then came out a handsome little boy. Then I got

his 2 sisters. I still think though that this one is a little girl. Fate

couldn't be that cruel twice! *grin* I am getting so excited and nervous

about how time is flying. Let me know if you have any questions and good

luck to you! :)

Thanks,

Merry

Hi and welcome!! I also got pregnant at 4 months post-op. I " m now

in my 7th month and due near the end of August! I think you'll do GREAT!

I've lost 10 lbs since becoming pregnant and I hope to lose about 30 more

after baby Carmen (my 2nd child) is born. I wish you the best of luck with

this pregnancy. I know it'll be a hard one for you, but keep your head up

and enjoy the ride!

Hi my name is ang and i'm pretty new to the group as well. I am in

the process of ttc via IVF. most Dr.'s like you to wait at least 12

to 18 months from what i've heard but like you said you know of

pepole who have done it earlier. My advice or and opinon. Wait till

your surgen say's it's okay to start ttc. I'm only 10 months post op

myself and am ttc. But, my surgen and my Dr. said that it was okay

for me to do so. I think it just depends on the surgen and your

certin situation. My thought is this.......Why go through all of this

to have the surgery not to get the full benifit from it. You loose

most of your weight the 1st year. that's what they call your window

of oppertunity. " you loose the most weight during this time " I think

you should talk it over with your surgen and fallow his/her advice.

Once again that is just my opinon. Good luck with your surgery! It

has been the best choice i've ever made. I hope it's turns out the

same for you. Ang

Disregard my last note as I see your doctor gave you permission. If he says

it is okay to ttc then you probably won't be high risk unless it is because

of either your age or if you end up with multiples. I believe I remember

reading that someone on the list was pregnant with multiples.
