  • 5 years later...

Femara (Novartis' brand name for letrozole) - this seems to be the one everyone is talking about - thanks Andree for the information. I know my Herceptin is $2,240 per treatment (and that's weekly!) - I just don't know what I would do without insurance...to depressing to think about.

and I thought $9000 for each of the AC was bad- thank goodness that is only four times for

the $36,000

my radiation cost about the same also- $35,000. I tell everyone after biopsies and surgery and dr bills I have a great $100,000 perm for my hair that has lasted two years now...LOL

you are very lucky to have insurance. Chuck and I were talking when we heard about that new medicine for $100,000 and I said if my cancer ever comes back, if its before I can get Medicare, I think I would refuse treatment. It wouldn't be right to stick Chuck and/or the kids with those kind of bills. It really makes me mad that there are so many that can't afford the meds they need. Not only cancer patients but other with heart problems etc.

nne, This reminded me of something that happened at the pharmacy,

on Friday. Until Friday, the only thing I had heard about an increase

in my co-pay for my meds, was from Pres. Bush. There was no

notification at the pharmacy or, from anyone at the state level.

Because of this, I thought there was another screw-up with my coverage,

as had happened in January. I got into an argument with one of the

pharmacists telling him, I was not going to pay the increase.

While I eventually paid the increase, the situation was, inversely

proportional to the Katrina disaster, in that, the only word I heard

about the increase, was from the President. I didn't hear anything at

the state or, local level.

,

Please, please, apologize to your pharmacist. We do not control

your copays!!! Simple put, the pharmacy's computer receives

information from the insurance companies computer!!! There is no way

for us to know what insurance companies may be changing copays! I

know it is frustrating when copays change, its frustrating for

pharmacists too!!! I agree there should have been some notification

but take it up with the insurance company not the pharmacy!!! We're

just the middle man!!

Let not your heart be troubled Ellie ~ most of us here have a great relationship with our pharmacist, which includes respect. I wouldn't pay "him" much mind...I think a lot of us here are wiser now.

I worked as a pharmacist tech for many years, when we submit a prescripetion to to insurance company, they in return send it back with the co-pay or the cost of the drug for the patient. We have no control or say in what that amount will be. Its all in the hands of the insurance, so the bottom line is, you need to contact your insurance company about your co-pays. Please do not take it out on the tech's or the pharmacist...thanks
