As a fellow New Englander (from MA), I also was laid off about a year ago.

I've been doing M & P since last Sept and have done some craft fairs. I am

curious...what do you generally charge for your soaps? I have been using $1

an ounce as a guideline so a 4 ounce bar is $4. If I have embedded anything

in it, I charge more ($5 or so). I am now starting to think...is it worth

all the time that it takes. By the time I pay the fee and taxes come out and

the cost of materials is deducted, theres not much profit left. What are

your thoughts? Can you really make enough $$ at this to make it worth

while. I LOVE making the m & p which I would continue to do but I am

struggling to figure out is it worth the effort to try and get wholesale

accounts. My understanding is that the wholesalers double the price they pay

so how much can you sell the soap to them for? I would love to share ideas

with you., Thanks. andi

ps. my kids are 8 and 5.

<<<My name is Brigitte. Iv'e been making M & P soap for about a year and a

half.

My Business is just starting to take off. I have a couple of large wholesale

accounts. I do craft fairs and homeshows.

I was layed off last year so I am now a work at home Mom!!! lol I am the

mother of 2 children 5 and 3. We live in CT. >>>

Wowee! Welcome. Are your twins identical?

I suppose the more children you have, the more likely you are to have

twins

from a statistical standpoint. I'm very impressed - I can't bear the

thought

of more than two!

Hi Ru!!!

Welcome to our little family - you must be 's nurse...How is he doing? God love him, he really has a lot to overcome.

I'm from ville and am also a pt of Dr. 's - impatiently trying to get insurance approval. You will find a wonderful, caring group of people here - with answers to questions that you haven't even thought of yet.

If you are looking for info about the DS I suggest that you spend some time on the duodenalswitch.com web site - don't get so carried away by the patient profiles that you skip everything else. lol There is a file of FAQ's and a really good explanation in the procedure section - there is a ton of info there...and then we are here too.

This journey is a long and sometimes frustrating one...but I think that it is worth every tear you shed...the operation is the easy part...its getting there that is so challenging.

Let me know if I can help you in any way....

Ruth:

Welcome to the DS list. We appreciate having anyone here who needs

or wants this surgery. But we especially appreciate care givers.

And even more especially those who are likely to be giving care to

us. Stick around a while. Read this list and go to the web site

www.duodenalswitch.com and read up on this surgery. Especially note

the differences between the DS and the RNY. The RNY is an excellent

surgery but we feel that this gives us two things that the RNY does

not. First, our long term prognosis is slightly better. Our weight

loss and maintainence is virtually universal, not the 80% achieved by

the RNY. Secondly, we feel the quality of life is better with this

surgery. Check it out. I expect you'll share our opinion.

Again, welcome.

Regards.

Hi,

I'm t, and I am a senior in nursing school, too. It was the foot

pain that I experienced as a result of nursing on my feet for long

shifts that pushed me over the edge, too. Nursing id hard physical

labor, especially with extra weight. My surgery date is December 11

(3 weeks from yesterday) and I am going to be switched by Dr. Aniceto

Baltasar of Alicante, Spain. I am self-pay.

Best wishes and welcome!

Hugs,

Hi Ru and welcome to the list.

> I learned about this group from of of my patients today. He had his

surgery done by Dr. as well.

Gee, that wouldn't have been , would it. He's a great guy and

I could see him telling you about us. It's good to know that there

may be someone there that understands the pain of the morbidly obese.

If there is any way that I can help, please feel free to e-mail me

privately. I hope to be in your hospital soon. May Cigna learn that

this is necessary and not to be excluded.

Welcome ,

I am sorry that one so newly married should have to cope with this. I do get

the sharp stabbing pains through my legs and back. I don't now what nitrous

oxide is so i can't know how that feeling is or if I have had it, I don't

remember. I like to forget things about dentists including appointments.

:-))

There are a lot of good folks on this list and they will be a help and

support to you if you need it.

I am Irene from Texas and I have found out that there is also a lot of love

and caring on this list.

Take care,

Irene

I'm going to do this just to get my mind off the terrible stuff that is
