Guest guest
it's funny you should mention tofu pate because i just found Toby's tofu egg salad at a local grocery store here in California. It used to be my favorite spread ever when I lived in Portland, and then when I moved to Colorado I found out no one could get it because it was too perishable. But now I guess they've figured out how to give it a longer shelf life. Anyway, YUMMY! I just had some on my Bette Hagman sorghum bread. I would love to hear some good recipes too, 'cause it is a bit spendy to buy. I think there's one in the Vegan Vittles cookbook, but I wasn't that crazy about it. > > I used to have a good receipe, can't find it. It had dill, lemon juice, > can't remember. Anyone have one?? > > Thanks, Suzi >

Make sure you get the one with the silver label, not the gold one as they make both a wheat and a wheat free one. I have read that they do have CC issues in their factory.we switched to Bragg's Amino Acids instead of Tamari or Soy Sauce. works really well for us.Shez

Guest guest
I buy San-J tamari at Whole Foods. I think I have also seen it at Kroger but I am not positive on that. They make a version with wheat as well so be sure to check the labels each time. Guest guest
There are two varieties of San-J wheat free tamari, one regular and the other low sodium. I wouldn't personally worry about cross contamination, as I have been using them for a ridiculously long time and never had any negative reaction. I get " intestinal issues " from any wheat containing soy sauce. One time I accidentally bought the wrong version and noticed my stomach had been hurting... I looked at the bottle and noticed, HEY, that has wheat in it! Anyway, as long as you buy the right version you should be fine. Some people use la choy, but I think it tastes really bad- it is basically all additives and salt, and is brewed, not fermented (or something like that). There is also a company that puts out wheat free individually packaged soy sauce- I got them at Restockit.com- they are the panda soy sauce packets. THey are gluten free and great for travelling, slightly better in flavor than LaChoy, but REALLY SALTY. I don't care for Bragg's amino product as a substitute in recipes, but it's ok for sushi. (This is just my taste buds talking here, yours may differ.) > > > Where can you find gf Tamari soy sauce? I've checked several places > > and everything has had wheat.
