Get a blood test for a vitamin D

deficiency. After I was started on High dose D for a deficiency , my strength had

been returning.

Free Since Friday, and Boy are my arms tired.

Hey, there. :)

I've been gluten free since Friday, a lot of

things are starting to improve

(I haven't had severe diahrea in 24 hours.

HOORAY! I slept better last

night than I have in a long time, my hands and

legs don't ache). So, why is

it that I'm completely exhausted?

I supposively have Fibromyalgia / Chronic Fatigue,

but the current thinking

is that it might have been a misdiagnosis.

If indeed this is the case,

shouldn't the fatigue part have started to lift as

well? Or, am I expecting

too much too soon?

Please share your experiences, so that I, in my

newbieness, may glean

information from you. :)

Love and Light,

Kristi

Hi Kristi,

I agree that it would be nice to be 100

percent better now! I’ve been living with a CFIDS diagnosis for 5 years

and also believe it was a misdiagnosis. I’ve been GF for 5 weeks. A lot

of things feel better, but I’m not as full as energy as I think I should

be. But after all, I’ve led a very sedentary life for these 5 years of

illness. Everything in my body needs firming and toning. THAT will take some

time. I’m starting Yoga this week.

I’m so glad so many other things

feel better for you. Another week of sleeping well might change everything

else!

I think the fatigue is one of the things that can linger longer than

you might think/hope. My fatigue took months to life (3-4). My DD

was probably at least a month (she's 14). You should look into

vitamin deficiencies, for sure, but be patient. It will take your

body a while to heal.

Whew! Makes a lot of difference. I was thinking... "I'd rather get gut cancer than be tired for the rest of my life!!" ;)

Kristi, I was writing to this board with the same questions a couple of weeks ago and am happy to report that I've felt really good for the last week!!! The fatigue is mostly gone (maybe a little before my last period) and I haven't even wanted a nap!! The last time I got gluten it returned worse than before though, so try to be very careful. -wendy Fort Worth"Kristi L. Waterworth" wrote: Whew! Makes a lot of difference. I was thinking... Thanks, ,

My family is being very supportive, husband is feeding himself because he's afraid I'll get cross-contaminated. :) My mother and I are going gluten free together, since it does have genetic components, she thinks it might explain her multiple issues as well (since we've had a lot of the same symptoms, it very well could). Her father died of GI cancer, and her sister has had multiple erroneous GI diagnosises, so it may very well be rampant in my family. Of course, it's easy to label looking from my eyes. :)

Did you have the rash? If so, has it started to clear yet?

I've been gluten-free for over 2 years. The fatigue lingered long

after the other problems went away. Then last fall, at the Stanford

Celiac Conference, I heard one of the speakers give a list of

bloodwork celiacs should have once a year. She recommended testing for:

ferritin

B12

zinc

+ the other labs an adult would have with annual physical.

Last time I saw my doctor (NOT a celiac specialist) I asked her to

order those labs. Turns out my ferritin level was 11 - and normal is

22 to 30. I've been on high doses of iron for 2 months now, and I've

seen a great increase in my energy level.

Kristi, Don't get discouraged. But do have your TSH checked. If it is high you may need thyroid replacement. I was completely exhausted until they gave me thyroid medication. Seems it can take a long time to get back on your feet. Sounds like your diagnosis for Celiac is right on the money. If you are gluten free and free of diarrhea, and sleeping much better, stay gluten free even though the doctors may vascillate on your diagnosis. It's really difficult sometimes to pin doctors down on this diagnosis. Shirley in San Diego"Kristi L. I have been GF for almost three months, and I am still tired too. I

think it takes a lot longer to heal then we expect. I also have a

bunch of autoimmune diseases, including Haitimotos (sp?) Thyriod

disease. I completely agree, you might want to get checked for it or

for Sjogrens disease. It can also make you really tired. I am very

lucky, cause I have a lot of energy, but I often look and feel tired (I

have Rhuematiod Arthritis - my main issue). I know people on this list

have said and I believe it, gluten has been hurting our bodies for a

long time, it's going to take a while to truly heal.
