Hi ,

I believe fish oil thins your blood and could make you more susceptible to

bleeding. I am not a doctor, and I don't take fish oil, but I seem to recall

hearing or reading about that at some point.

By the way, I also bruise very easily, but I attribute that more to my anemia

than my mediations. The tendency to bruise seems to be worse when my anemia

is less under control.

My GOODNESS ! Ouch!!! That sounds so painful. I am glad you didn't

break any bones at least.

Happy Anniversary to you. I hope you have a wonderful, although belated,

celebration on Friday.

Be careful!

and , I thought I remembered this as well. I double checked in

" Micromedex " and both components of fish oil (DHA and EPA) can decrease the

amount of circulating platelets, which in turn can cause increase

bleeding/bruising etc. Do you have a recent CBC? (Complete blood count). The

platelet count is included in the CBC. May also want to check for bleeding

elsewhere, (urine may become cola colored, black or dark stools, bleeding gums

when you brush your teeth etc. If these are present, may want to let your GP or

neph know this as well. Bonnie

Speaking of bruising.. I slipped down the last 4 or 5 steps and landed

on my rear on a step and then the floor. I hit my arm on one of the

steps and evidently bit the corner of my lip. You won't believe the

bruises. I told someone that my rear hadn't been this firm in 35 years.

Of course it is a VERY deep purple and I am having trouble sitting.

When Jay saw my lip, he said that he was glad that I was going to wait

for the doc's office to open instead of going to the emergency room. He

said that they would probably take pictures and have the police ask

questions. My sister said that I should wear a sign saying that " If you

think this is bad, you should see the rest of me. Jay has left town! "

I think tonight was supposed to be a big night since it is our

anniversary, but we have postponed celebrations until Friday. I'm

taking drugs tonight and tomorrow morning. I also have a very large

cushion! I also had a big lecture tonight (supported by my Mother)

about being careful and aware of being safe. Darn, he's right.

Happy anniversary ! Hopefully the cancellation of the celebration

won't set tongues a wagging :)

I'm sorry to hear about that accident!

This is strange, I have anemia, as well as IgAN, and have literally never had

a bruise in my life!!!!! I have been through operations and accidents and

just never bruised. I even am on Coumadin as a blood thinner, and still I can't

bruise. I don't think this is realted to either anemia nor IgAN, but then again

I am not a doctor, I just play one on the internet!
