Guest guest
, The one thing at a time makes sense, but I wouldn't worry about whether it's the Mag/Malate or weather. I take 100 mg of Wellbutrin a day and it helps a lot. I KNOW because when I miss 3 or 4 days in a row I am WIPED OUT. So just keep it up and later on you can try stopping for a few days. But my mom sent me that and she said her friend only takes it when she needs it. So I guess you can tell right away. Guest guest
Hi, I had read that you need 600mg Magnesium and 1200 Malic acid a day for good results. I tried the Sam-e last summer for 2 months. I believe I was taking 800mg a day and felt nothing. Since then I have read that I didn't give it long enough and I should have taken 1200mg. It's pretty expensive and I am hesitant to put more money into it. More and more info is coming out about Sam-e's good effects on both depression and OA. Maybe I'll go back to it sometime. It's great weather today and I feel decent....(whispered.)<G> Pat > I bought the Magnesium Malate supplement yesterday and started it today. Guest guest
Hi I took some extra magnesium because I was feeling stressed but it seemed to make it worse. The pounding in my chest and neck got worse and I felt very hyper and depressed all evening. Has this happened to anyone? My main symptoms are pounding in the neck artery from time to time, ringing in the ears, high blood pressure and weird sensations in my head (pressure, fluttering, pounding, etc.) I find that whenever I increase any of my vitamins my symptoms get worse. Is it because they start to chelate and stir up the mercury more? Barbara

TK--- The only way to know what is doing what is exclusion. Use one supplement at a time for a week or two just like food exclusion to make sure it is not causing problems. It is important to look at the ingredients also so there is not something that you know is a problem. I get > scared to take anything now. My doctor put me on magnesium because > of my muscle tics, but everything she's put me on has just made me > feel worse physically/mentally emotionally. TK--- One idea would be to use transdermal magnesium and see if it helps. I don't know why and > have wondered whether it does indeed stir mercury up a bit more. TK--- Magnesium does not mobilize Hg except magnesium citrate which is supposed to be a [very mild - barely] chelator. It may be a problem with the form of mg or other ingredients. > Maybe the mercury that's in the places where those minerals should > be, gets disturbed when you replace them and causes a reaction. The pounding in my chest and neck got worse and I felt very > hyper and depressed all evening. Has this happened to anyone? TK--- This may be the form of Mag or other ingredients in the supplement. Mag citrate is supposedly barely a mild chelator. > > My main symptoms are pounding in the neck artery from time to time, ringing > in the ears, high blood pressure and weird sensations in my head (pressure, > fluttering, pounding, etc.) > > I find that whenever I increase any of my vitamins my symptoms get worse. > Is it because they start to chelate and stir up the mercury more? TK--- No they do not chelate Hg. If you are using something that has sulfer in it then it may mobilize Hg. The supplements suggested do not chelate Hg or mobilize it. Some supplements have ingredients that do not agree with people and it isimportant to know what else is in them. > > Barbara > > >
Guest guest
Hi: I found that if I take magnesium, I get cramps in my calves. As soon as I stop taking it the cramps stop!!?? How can this be? Barbara I use " Natural Calm " magnesium citrate powder by Gillham's Natural Vitality, disolved in water. Gillham is a nutritional researcher. It works wonders for me in stoping my muscle cramps. I had severe muscle cramps (hands, feet, neck, calves), meny times throughout the day. This powder form is also supposedly absorbed better with a balanced pH that provides better absorption and benefit (according to the label). It comes in flavors, but I just use the regular (just plane magensium..no flavoring etc). I hope I can mention this, for I have no connection to Gillham or the product aside from the fact it just helped me where magnesium capsules or tablets did nothing for me. My doc recommended it and is available at most health food stores. V
Guest guest
Wow...you know, this was my problem for a long time. Every time I would take magnesium I would get terrible muscle cramps. No one had an explanation for this except a friend of mine that has a doctorate in Chinese medicine. She figured that I was retaining the magnesium and also my body was not using it correctly and this would throw the magnesium/calcium ratio off. Maybe it was because of the nature of magnesium in mucsle contractions and calcium relaxing muscles. Oddly, after chelating for 6 months this quit happening. Now I get muscle cramps if I don't take magnesium/calcium with a 1:1 ratio. Do you take calcium with the magnesium? If you do at what ratio? New thories seem to advocate a 1:1 ratio instead of 2:1 ratio (twice as much calcium as magnesium). Also I found that I would still get muscle cramps if I took magnesium tablets or capsules. I need the magnesium powder, but can take the calcium capsules...go figure. Maybe someone else has an explanation for the muscle cramps with magnesium. Guest guest
I haven't researched this, but a doctor mentioned to me that there's a test they can do where you get a shot of Mg and then collect urine over a certain period of time, to see if you are retaining Mg properly. Not sure if there are better methods. DD offers an intracellular (blood) test, which I have not done. > > > > > > Hi: > > > > I found that if I take magnesium, I get cramps in my calves. Guest guest
Many thanks for this info. I am going to ask my doc about this when I see him again next month. Guest guest
I thought that Mag Chloride was used for constipation?
