Guest guest
Hello confused Arlene in TX, I have no real idea what the equivalent value of Zanaflex to diazepam is. The drug is really not that new, except in this country. It went generic just this year. Because of this I am surprised that you can't find an equivalent. I'm currently taking 4 mgs 4X/day of Zanaflex and 20 mg of baclofen 4X/day. This is in addition to 7 mg of Klonipin (clonazepam) per day. I'm able to walk, drive and work, but darned if I remember anything I do during the day. Actually, I do remember, but quite a few people are amazed that I can tolerate that much and still be awake. I'm not, but continue on anyway. I take 200 mg of Provigil daily each morning to help me stay awake during the day. It works very well, except on Sunday mornings. I still sleep during the sermon. I'm on other stuff, too, mostly for asthma and acid reflux. Sorry I couldn't help you, but it appears that you need to take it more often or at least 4 mg at night to help you sleep better. You speak about the medications as though you have to pay full price. Is there any insurance you can get? Are you eligible for Medicare/Medicaid? Does TX have any programs that will help? IN does if you fall below a certain income (I think it is less than $100/year.) Joke. I believe it is $15,000 for a single person and $23,000 for a couple, but this is just a guess. I should know since I am a State employee and keep getting emails from the Family and Social Services Administration, which the Department of Mental Health falls under.(That's who I work for.) I just delete the messages because they just seem to be bueratic B.S. touting what great things IN has done while they are cutting the programs from the budget to save money. Look into help from TX. If not there, try the drug companies directly. Many of them have programs to help. Dolores Carron has a list of places for you to look for help if you need it and are qualified. Guest guest
Hi Mike Grey, Well, I figured it out!!! There is no equivalence between zanaflex and 5 mgs. diazapam because zanaflex is a " muscle relaxer " and not a benzo like diazapam. That being the case, I am better off on zanaflex than a benzo. Not confused no more! Arlene in Texas
Guest guest
Gee, Arlene, I could have told you that if you had asked the right question. You were comparing apples to oranges and I really did not notice it. Sorry about that.
